Anyone know where to purchase this book? Is it worth buying?

From the looks of things, the Spyderco company store - SFO (http://66.113.178.251/catalog/details.php?product=104) might be your best, and cheapest, bet. Can't believe the prices they're going for on Amazon.

www.abebooks.com is a great site to look for used (and some new) books. The cheapest price they show a Spyderco Story going for is $63.00 for a new book up to $142.07 for a good condition used  .

Yes it's worth buying, I find myself re reading it when a new knife grabs my attention.

Curious as to why it's out of print anyway?

Definatly worth it. Great for research when you find an older model for sale. Though I wish it was more complete in details of different variations & production #'s.

A very useful book to have. But, like any book, be it cars or firearms, they go out of date as soon as they are published. But this does not diminish their value. Carefully following this forum and the annual Spyderco Catalog should keep you up to date on what's going on. The catalog and sprint run flyer are available online from this website.

Cheers

Mike

Curious as to why it's out of print anyway?Well, it is a rather specialized book, with a limited audience, so sales probably slowed to the point where the publisher did not want to risk another run. Also, while very interesting, and a great reference for Spyderco collectors, it is getting a bit dated, as all of the newer models and latest versions of some of the older ones do not appear in it. Maybe "Volume II" is in the works.

Definitely worth the read. You really get a sense of the progression of the company, and an insight into Sal's philosophy of busiiness.

Simpy a must for any Spyderco collector. I look at mine at least twice a week. I have noticed that the prices are rising. I got mine about a year ago.

Really, your right with the audience, very limited. And so I can't figure out why it still commands that price. I do want to see it updated with a 2nd edition and in the meantime, I still hope to catch it at Barnes & Nobels discount section for $9.99.

Sorry guys, we've no plans for a Volume II at this point.

Deacon is spot on. Paladin Press, the publisher, has taken it out of print. It's run it's shelf life and they are a fast moving publishing company with new titles released weekly.

Maybe it's time to start asking for a sprint run with a damascus spine and carbon fiber covers :D
