In an ancient issue of Knives Illustrated, there was a picture of two folders made in Japan, and marketed by Spyderco. Can you believe it? Spyderco folders without the hole!!
One of them I can't remember at all. The other one really intrigued me. It was called the Roadrunner. Very nice, long, slim, slipjoint folder, with a single blade. Think maybe a clip or muskrat-like blade.
Are these collector items now? Has anyone seen the Roadrunner for sale recently? Though I can't spend too much, am really interested in that knife. I may try the Wanted to Buy forum at BFC, but thought I'd ask here for any information that could prove helpful. Anybody?

i found the roadrunner here:

that page hasn't been updated in a while, so there may be some doubt as to whether they have them any more.

The Road Runner is part of the "Bird and Trout" series made by G. Sakai. There are 3 knives: the Pack Rat with a 2 1/2" blade, the Road Runner with a 2 7/8" blade and the Fisher with a 3 3/4" blade. They are still in the Spyderco catalogue and are available from the online store. While you're there, check out the Moki's and Solo's as well <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>.

Don't worry that the world might end tomorrow, in Australia it's tomorrow already.

Thanks very much. I'll look for them. Just assumed they were a thing of the past.

Well, looked them over. Nice looking knives. Guess I'd want the knife larger than the Road Runner, can't remember name now.
BUT, have to admit that paying $120 or so for a knife with AUS6 would be difficult for my Scottish soul. Would prefer carbon steel in a slip joint anyway. Guess I'll have to make use of my Bulldog catalog. Maybe I can find what I want on the forums.
Thanks again. I've looked at the store several times, but frankly managed to miss the large, bolded print for the Sakais and the others. Real observant of me. Still reeling from the shock of learning Spyderco sells knives with no hole.
