Here are some pics I took at 200x magnification with my trusty computer microscope:

Meerkat sharpened on Sharpmaker with 204UF hones:

Calypso Jr. sharpened with EdgePro using 0.5 micron CrO film at 48 included degrees:

C70TI ATR sharpened at some angle  with 600 grit DMT Diafold:

I'm getting a little better at free-hand sharpening. I'm gone from horrible to pathetic!

Swamp Rat Howling Rat stropped on leather belt and leather strop with 0.5 micron CrO/AO buffing compound:

For a reference, a hair from my Wifey's hairbrush:

Thanks for looking.

Very neat pictures Thom, just wish I knew enough about steel to understand what they imply.

Thanks, guys!

Deacon,

The pics don't imply anything about the behavior of the steels. At 200x or 60x, they're all just steel.

CKE,

My family's doing great, thank you! Hopefully all is well with your family and your little guy is keeping you young.

Senate,

Thank you for your nice words. I don't have a good digital camera, so I use the microscope instead. Family photos take hours to assemble. ;)

Daywalker,

My wifey spoiled me rotten for Father's Day.

Here's the before and after of my Manix at 60x magnification:

That's from cutting a plastic-sheathed twist-tie. Something an 'ultra-tough' steel should laugh off, especially when sharpened with a convex edge that was both thicker and more polished than the factory edge. One of my favorite steels, but some folks promote it with more hyperbole than I'd use...

Here's the same knife after I applied another convex edge:

This edge's thinner so denting or chipping aren't too surprizing if they occur, but it's going to go to Mr. Wilson for some TLC before it makes it back into serious rotation.
