if anyone has a khalsa folder id like to know what you think of it. i have only handled one once, and it was quite a while ago. do you think it would make a good mbc knife?

I'd question the strength of the liner lock.but other than that I can't see why not.The Khalsa looks to me a lot like the Grunting:?would the same techniques work with both?

I own both, a khalsa and a gunting.
When you put both side to side, you must admit gunting is looking quite a lot like khalsa, in term of general blade look. (BRAM any reason ???)
BUT, khalsa is not made to be used closed.
That is obvious.
And as far as I know, gunting is made to be used 90% of time in the closed position.
So, It cannot be used as a classy gunting (yes, I have to admit khalsa is looking better !!)
Thumb trapping seems to be the only thing you can do with khalsa, but ramp is rounded, so you have not as much control as with gunting, and of course, there is no way you can kineticaly open a khalsa.
Last but not least, my khalsa had to be retired from duty, only after one year of good service, two major problems :
- first, clip screws went off, no way to repair (haven't heard it from someone else by now, so maybe I had no luck)
- second, linerlock took the habit to engage so far it was disengaging on the other side (excuse my poor english, I am afraid it is not really clear, but I already heard it being khalsa major problem, so you will be able to find a better explaination with a little search!!)

You can open the khalsa kineticly by treating the hump as a ramp. At least i can, and I imagine others could. I'm not farmilier with the gunting meathod, so it might be slightly different, but it is possibly (and easy).

FREDERIC K:I've heard of that problem with linerlocks before:I prefer backlocks myself.
No apology needed:your English is better than mine*G*.

Only in the grossest sense does it look similar.. Khalsa to Gunting...
As Jot told me, the only reason there's a hump of any kind on his knife is there was no where else to put a "hole"...
obviously the hole needs to be put through something..like the blade! ROFL...

yes..because it sticks out with a curve it CAN open kinetically..its not great at it, but it wasn't thought of nor designed with that in mind.
Jot is impressed with the GUNTING..He played with my personal one at last years NY Knife Show...

The Khalsa folder is a unique knife that is no longer made I believe...
