How far are you getting before you have trouble? Once you get to the figure eight with the diamond in the middle, basically you take each end, wrap it around, then underneath and out through the diamond. Then you have to work it tight. Hope that helps.
GuideSeries, this description worked for me. I can now almost do it blindfolded

Search for: knife lanyard knot on Google and you'll get plenty of links

Patience, young padawan, patience.
The link Ted provided is the one that helped me most, even with the two books I have, which I believe you said you also have. This knot actually took me longer than the Monkey’s Fist, and the Monkey’s Fist was my first true attempt at knotting . Remember, a key to this sort of thing is learning to cinch each individual loop individually.
Are you using the Para cord? It does make it easier.
Edited to add:
Also, here is another good site with a good demonstration. They use two different color cord. Same as the BBC but inverted. Go to the site, under the "INDEX" click on "Fifty Knots", then scroll down untill you see "Knife Lanyard Knot" and click that. You can chose animated frame by frame, or to show all frames at once.

This is a great example on how to tie the lanyard knot. This was originally posted by Clay Kesting in another thread.

i did it. Ghostrider, the link to folsom was probably the most helpful, because i could look at detailed step by step frames of what i was doing. the link to britishblades i found had some of the pics at an akward angle and i couldnt tell for sure what i was suppose to do. thanks to all for the help, now i just need to practice more.

OUTSTANDING!
I knew you could do it. I just didn't have time to go over it very well the other day.
You actually have to learn the "mechanics" of the knot, that way, when a paticular loop needs tightening, you'll know where to pull.
Congrats. Fun when you get it aren't they.
