I was just gifted this Spyderco Meerkat by a good friend. I would have never picked one of these knives up myself. It's funny however how things can change after you hold and use a Spyderco.

I love this little knife. Thanks H.

The knife fits in your pocket and has a really low riding clip. It looks like a fancy pen in your pocket (see pics). I didn't think I would like the "Phantom Lock" but I love it. It's easy to get used to and even close one handed after about 10 trys. The wire clip is great. The blade is almost the sharpest I've felt on any Spyderco I have ever had. I was really surprised by that (however the person that gave me this knife may have sharpened it....I don't know). The little half circles and craters in the FRN handle feel awesome. It's easy to keep a good grip on. The hole is just the right size. The blade is thick. I think it's thicker than a Calypso Jr. blade. It has skeletonized liners which kick total butt and it's not too thick. It's like a mini-tank knife. I just never thought I would even give this knife a second glance. I thought wrong.

Great knife. This is going to be my office carry knife due to the fact that I have a load of whimps at work. I will of course have my Victorinox Ranger as a nice backup tool. :)

Thanks for the gift brother!

Thanks Rock!

Yeah. Unless I take pics on the weekend I end up using the flash. I get home and have a bunch of other stuff to tend to. By the time I get to taking some pictures it could be 10 or 11 o'clock PM. :)

I'm going to take some outside pics of a Lil' Temp tomorrow when I get home from work.

:)

Nice Pics David!

That Phantom Lock is fun, ain't it? One of my Sgt.'s cut himself trying to figure out how to close it!

God bless

I think I can already guess the answer :p ;)
Enjoy the lil tank! Any funny tries on your environment with the Phantom lock?

Those are really good pictures of a great little knife. Why did Spyderco discontinue it?

I gave it to a co-worker today......couldn't figure out for the life of him how to close it.

It is a neat little bugger :)

Properly lubricated, the Meercat will provide all sorts of entertainment. After your co-workers cannot figure it out, hold the knife up in front of your face, spine up. Surreptitiously disengage the Phantom Lock while blowing gently down across the spine of the blade.

It will appear as though the merest puff from your mouth will cause the blade to close. Causes great frustration among co-workers trying to figure out how you did it. :D

Neat one Hannibal! Darn, had I known this one earlier it'd have pissed off the Sgt. even more!

God bless

I have a Meerkat that I keep in my desk just to entertain myself with.

It's funny to have a "newb" come in to my area & get offered to examine & close it. They hand it back with such care, and then I flick it closed in the blink of an eye.
