Well, everyone tells me that Spyderco knives are made in the U.S, but the other day when I was admiring my Delica 2 I noticed on one side of the blade it says Spyderco AUS-6, and the other side says Seki City Japan. Does any one know why it says that?

The majority of Spydercos are made in Japan. Those that are made there, have it on the blades.
The rest of the knives are made in Golden, CO. They say that on their blades. I can't remember exactly the breakdown, but am pretty sure that the models with American steel are made in Golden, and those with Japanese steel are made in Japan. It may well be that only the knives with CPM440V are made in Golden.
Wish had a better memory to provide the exact details. But, its a start.

After having a quick glance at the current catalogue, I think these are the models currently being manufactured in Golden.
Native
Military
Starmate
Chinook
Vesuvius
Gunting
SpydeRench
I think that's the lot.

Don't worry that the world might end tomorrow, in Australia it's tomorrow already.

More than 70 percent of Spyderco's knives are made in Japan. If you visit the Golden factory, you'll be able to catch a glimpse at Spyderco's high-tech manufacturing facilities... Its AWESOME!

As I understand it (just to clear up misconceptions) even though many of the Spyderco knives are made in Japan, they're all "invented" and designed (er- thought up) here in America, correct?

Kind of like how all of Apple's new stuff has the slogan "Designed by Apple in California / Made in Taiwan"
