Rookie Clip

I was wondering why my Rookie PE can be carried tip up or tip down, while the SE can only be carried tip up. Not a big deal as I prefer tip up in this size blade and smaller. Just curious. Any help appreciated.

Hmm, my PE is like yours, drilled & tapped for both modes. Wonder if tip up only is normal for the SE version, or if yours is a fluke. Hopefully some other owners of SE SS Rookies will chime in. Are the boxes the same color? Much (or little) difference in the build dates? Guessing they're both the same steel, don't think the Rookie was around long enough for that to change, but am I correct?
