Is FRN the same as zytel?

Zytel is a Dupont Nylon product. It comes in various forms - glass or mineral reinforced, super-tough glass, or un-reinforced.

FRN - fiberglass reinforced nylon - is a generic term. Different manufacturers have a variety of tradenames.

Cold Steel *not an ad just a discription* makes some Zytel Tantos(49% glass) which are basically plastic, that u can sharpen with a file and the edge holds VERY well. Seeming that its plastic can not be detected by metal detectors
