What is the diffrance between the "Bob Lum" that has the G-10 handle(priced at $153), and the "Bob Lum Tanto" with the titanium handle (priced at $173); other than the handle and price? The spec. sheet for the "Bob Lum"(G10) says part surraded yet you can order it with a plane edge or a spyder edge. You can order the "Bob Lum Tanto"(titanium) in a plane edge or a spyder edge, is the complete blade a spyder edge or is it just part? I really want one of these knives, but be for I dish out this kind of money I want to know persicely what I want and what I am ordering.

Thank You for your help.

P.S. sorry I can't spell.

tuffdude, I've had the old style ones and they are a little slippery. The new ones with the G-10 scales and black plain edge blades look incredible. Go for the new style unless you want one for collector purposes.

The handle material is the only difference. Knife Center is rarely the lowest-priced on any knife, but they sell both the G-10 and Titanium handled Lums for $140. You can get a black-bladed model for an additional $10.

The new Lum Chinese folder is $20 cheaper, and has VG-10, a better steel than the ATS 55 the tantos have.

FWIW, the handle is extremely important for a knife. It is the interface between you and the knife. Slippery handles ruin much of the utility of a knife. If you're going with the tanto, I'd certainly recommend the G10. You can get a good grip on it. The Ti handles of the tanto, or the almite handles of the Chinese, are virtually guaranteed to be more slippery than the G-10.
