Sal, I remeber you saying that production was backed up on the Military.

Which started me thinking, by how much does the Military outsell other Spyderco's that are close to the same price?

I might be proven wrong, but I think Sal might not want to give info like that over the internet.

Info like that is generally considered "internal" or "proprietary" and is not likely to be given out.

BTW, the Milie is a great knife. I have the 2nd Gen in plain and serrated.

Take care.

i know sal once saied appoxamatly how many units are sold a year. i think it was 15,000 but i could be really off i don't quite remember. even if he can't quite give you the figure you asked for, he might be able to extract a percentage of total sales that were military knives. but this is just a guess.

i agree with knifenerd the military is great it's my next knife purchase.

Well a % or some other meaningful yardstick to measure would be fine. Just curious as to how popular this model is compared to similarly priced Spyderco's.

And yep it is a great knife, I loved the one I had, till some bastid stole it.

I want to replace it first with a mini Military and later with the full size model. I'm waiting for the Compression Lock, so both liners can have the full finger cutout<img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

I dont think I would like a &quot;Full Finger Cutout&quot; on the military. I think no cutout for the liner at all would be nice. (but it fits my hand great as it is)

ftkinney,
a finger cutout is used to enhance the grip on a knife. By using a cresent shaped cutout in the handle scales where your index finger goes (in a forward grip).

The Military has the cutout on only one scale, so you can access the liner lock with one hand, even with gloves on.

The Compression lock is on the top of the knife handle so both scales can have a cutout. This is also a stronger and a more secure type of locking mechanism.

I think, though, that a full finger cutout on both scales would actually make the Military less comfortable to hold and use.

Hi Scorpius.. Sorry if I wasn't clear. The Miliary is still backordered, not backed up. this means that we have none on the shelf and everything that is built is already sold.

We expect to catch up the end of next month.

As far as sales go, the Mil holds it's own when compared to other models in the line in the same price range.
