what is the proper technique for sharpening a delica with a whetstone and what would be the proper stone to use?

Joe Talmadge has written an excellent Sharpening FAQ which you can find here: http://www.bladeforums.com/features/faqsharp.shtml. You should be able to find out all you need to know there or at least enough to get you started. Personally, I've given up trying to sharpen freehand and now use a Spyderco Sharpmaker 204 exclusively.
