I am eyeing a SS Cricket... tell me why I need one, and what makes it so special for you...

Or am I better off with my old Navigator?

It's thin, viciously effective cutter, and carries as easy as pocket lint.
My further thoughts on this li'l knife can be found here (http://mrblonde50.genix.nl/content/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=32&Itemid=42).

Oh, and another reason... :D

Yes, everything Wouter said.... and it can be used as a money clip which is a beautiful thing. :)

Silly me always assumed this was a liner lock, it "appears" to be more like a frame lock... Am I right?

As Spyderco says a little BIG knife. I'm loving mine.....
Cuts like crazy! :)

You can't go wrong with this one.....

Lets just say that it cuts much more than you'd think the 2" blade is capable of ;) especially serrated.

SS Cricket has an integral compression lock (very strong), great EDC or money clip, and reverse S blade has tremendous cutting performance for its size...
The bottom-most Cricket is the FRN version btw.

Well just take a look at them. Who wouldn't want one or two. They are great little knives as everyone before me has mentioned. Always have one in my watch pocket. I probably use one of these more than any other knife that I have.

You guys forgot one of the main reasons why he needs a Cricket.

"Because he doesn't have one, yet." :D

Now that is a D*** good reason to buy one. :D Why didn't I think of that?

SS Cricket has an integral compression lock

I think you meant to say just integral not compression.

Not to knitpick or anything. :)

Silly me always assumed this was a liner lock, it "appears" to be more like a frame lock... Am I right?I believe the all stainless version would be classified as a frame lock. There is no scale covering the lockbar and it is integral with the rest of the handle on that side. The FRN and aluminum versions are liner locks. Not sure how you would classify an all stainless that had been fitted with aftermarket scales on both sides, might be an interesting subject for a debate. The Cricket, along with the Military and the Lum Chinese Folder, are three models I wish were available in left hand versions. In fact, would settle for the first two, since the LH Chinese is available from Bob Lum as a custom.

The PE SS Cricket is the one :spyder: I've wanted since I first saw it, however something always seems to get in the way... Waved Endura, ZDP-189 Caly Jr, etc, etc.
I really am going to have to find some extra money so my next buy includes one. :D Well unless something gets in the way. (Manix) ;)

Aloha markg,

Well if that's what got you to order a C29SS, you'd better order another one... :D

My wife tried taking my FRN Version, so i had to get her a Pink Cricket for herself. :p

Utility-wise, this lil' bug is hard to beat. There are SO many carry options, it's crazy. Looks *cute* and all, but it's rather terrifying in MBC or SD applications...Hey, keep us posted on which "chick" tries to take it from you! ;) Here's my wife's C29SS, courtesy of The Deacon on Christmas morning!

God bless

You should work in advertising. Oh wait, you a film student right? Hehe, not much difference between advertising and film-making anymore. ;)

Most of the time I carry 2 knives. Currently it's my Military SE and always my SS Cricket. The funny thing is that the Cricket does the most cutting. It doesn't scare people or little kids and its wicket sharp. Since I gave away my FRN Jester to my son I am thinking about putting my Cricket to my keychain instead of in my watchpocket.

I have an SS PE Cricket coming. Should be here tomorrow. I'll post pics that will further influence purchasing decisions for the better :D

I just picked up an SS SE and an FRN PE for a good price. Wow, I've never bought this many knives in a week. I must have the bug. I had to buy the spydercard for $15, then I went looking for an Endura for a knife that I wouldn't boil over if I lost, then I ran into the 2 crickets.

Well I got the crickets. I'm loving this stainless steel cricket. It's so thin, but so strong. They're a lot smaller than I thought, but this little thing is MEAN. It looks so wimpy until you unfold it and the spyderedge shows. This is my first stainless :spyder: and I'm very impressed. The FRN one is going to be the first knife I'm not going to use. I'm saving it as a gift for my sister. She certainly won't ask for it, but with a name like cricket and it's size, I'm sure she'll find it cute enough to give it a home. I think it will help her at work too. She does graphic design and it seems like the reverse s will be very good at cutting paper that's laying on a table. My only dislike is the finish of the steel on the top of the blade does not match up to all the other :spyder: 's I have. It looks like it hasn't even been polished from when the blade was stamped out. The one on the FRN cricket is nicely finished.

Just look at the James Bond films....the recent ones at least

hey skcusloa and David, so cool that you like your new knives. In my book, it's a spyderco absolute must-have. Enjoy!
