CHINOOK
he has a fixed blade, so buy him a knife that is a folder, but acts like a fixed...
We all start with 10 fingers. Those with Spydies have 9 to spare, Still need a thumb. Good thing I still have 8 to spare...

Surely the Alaska Fish and Game Dept. can't be wrong! They use only the Wegner, and remember some of their game animals make those in the lower 48 seem like midgets. For instance, many years ago, I saw a film by an Alaska guide who guaranteed a 200 yard shot at a moose with a rack with a minimum 48" inside spread. Heck, would take 7 or 8 of the little blacktails around here to equal that much meat, probably more.
The Wegner!

Another vote for the CHINOOK

i like the wegner, but my vote, as always must go to the CHINOOK. it will do it all.

thanks for all the imput i have two weeks to deside i think i'll get the wegner expecially if it is on the cull list. i too love this knife i have two but i might order one more, for myself, if it is true. my brother's birthday is in september if the new modles are out i might get him a new one if not, for all you chinook fans, he'll get one. thanks for all the help. buying one for a friend is almost as fun as buying one for yourself.

HAHA--
I just knew it. I saw the title of the post and just knew what the first few responses would be. I own both the Chinook and the Wegner. Now I am way out of practice on my hunting and skinning skills but I have to agree. I think the Wegner is the clear choice. Heck Tim basically designs all his knives so they can be used for skinning and such. Just my 2 cents worth.
