Well, so I want to dream a little bit here. I was playing with my CF Delica and my ZDP Caly, comparing them and suddenly I was thinking: A CF Caly Jr. with ZDP would be THE perfect knife...for me at least. And it would be even better if the single liner and back spacer was made from Ti....

Now, before everybody goes: Yeah right but who is going to afford such a thing I will make, in my infinite naivitee, a quick calculation. The CF Delica was about $40 more than the FRN Delica. And the ZDP Caly is about $35 more than the FRN Caly. If I put these two together, I end up with a CF Caly Jr. with ZDP for around $105 street price. About $110 for my dream knife, minus the Ti is not really bad I would say.....and, man, do I want one!!! I would be in heaven. Even if the Ti would be another $40-50....oh man I am starting to .......

My perfect knife would be a Military with Compression Lock.

Both sound great to me.

Perfect knife huh? I have no complaints about my current knives, but a few modifications would make them even better in my opinion.

My C68GP in S30V is already perfect, but I always have preferred VG-10 :) Yeah, I know, that one is definitely not going to happen. I'll live.

A Waved Endura, with dual steel liners, and everything else exactly the same, would be ideal for me. I love my Waved Endura, but I would like just a little bit more wait to it. Keep the FRN, and VG10, and it would be the perfect knife to abuse(which I do) and it would hold up to anything.

Sounds near perfect all right. I'll take one!!!
But you know, the new Mini Manix may be MY near perfect knife. We will see.

Yeah a G10 ZDP189 calypso with a 4 way position clipit, and Titanium other parts would be as close to perfect as an average persons EDC could get. It needs a big fat :spyder: on the handle too. My only problem is it'd cost so much I'd FREAK if I lost it.

I can't really say carbon fiber would be perfect, because I've never had any knife with it.

A Mini Manix with ZDP 189 would be a dream for me. WOW.

Hey David.. Did you switch from SE to PE? If I recall you were/are a big SE fan. :)

Sorry to get off topic...

Actually I already have half of the equation. My 2 perfect EDCs are(will be) the Burgundy Calypso Jr. ZDP-189 along with my C-44 big Dyad. Those 2 can do it all. I may rotate the PE Carbon Fiber Harpy when it comes available.

5" bladed lil temp... could you call it "lil" anymore though?

SS Dyad(jr or regular) with vg-10 or CPM.

Think I'll wait till an R2 arrives here before I answer that. That seems to have more potential to break the stranglehold the Stretch has on my back pocket than anything else I've seen. Win-win situation for me since the Stretch is pretty darn close to my ideal in a larger knife.

As of now, "THE R2".....maybe a Delica-sized version would be the perfect companion to it!

I was reading in 1997 or 1998 catalog (I m not sure which one it was) that there were limited amounts of CF Caly Jr. produced. Allthough I have never seen a single one.
Do they exist? Pics as proof are welcome..

Do they exist? Pics as proof are welcome..By golly, you're right Jano, never noticed that before. Obviously, they never made it to production, or some of those here would have one. Not even sure if prototypes ever got built, unlike the CF CoPilot, Navigator, and Pegasus that appear inside the covers of The Spyderco Story, or the Native, where a couple made it out the door. Looks like the birth annoucement was a tad preamature.

Just like me ;) It's true that mine is a SE (and has a few modifications) ;)

my perfect knife... hmmmmmm...

i'd say it's most likely my manix. :) that's a knife i know will never fail me.

i'd be thrilled if spyderco made a big H1 hawkbill on a manix handle.

my SE pacific salt was my perfect work knife when i was cutting around wet stuff, and often ending up with wet pants... it'll probably also be my perfect "rainy season knife."

the tasman salt would certainly be another perfect work knife. just gotta convince some hapless relative to ship one to me when it comes out. :D

i still need an all-out-bling spydie to serve as dress knife... might have one soon, though, depending on how a certain auction goes... ;)

At the moment my perfect knife is the Military/SE. I'm waiting for a CF Police/SE so we'll see.
My dream knife would be a fully serrated Manix with H1 steel, Titanium liners and screws and the same pivot screw as the Military or Li'l Temp.

I won't say perfect because I know my idea of perfect will change every day, but for the time being it is Dialex's Native improvements.

That's some cool dimpling on that FRN handle! Looks like a regular Native handle mutated with a Titelist golf ball! :D Looks a lot grippier though and I like those textures on the butt end of the handle...the Dialex Native seems to have upped the "ergo ante!" :)

Oooh, i'm dreaming of the day when the good people at Spyderco decides to make a Delica with the pro- grip grips, and Delica bladeshape, but with Pro- grip blade thickness, and screwed on metal- clip, in yellow or maybe even burgundy with black rubber inlays and plainedged.
That would be my dreamknife come true.
