smart idea. A better option even is to use those lead seals these use to seal containers in the ports. Its a strong metal wire with a lead seal on. If they post factum fysically have to remove or break the metal seal THEY (Canadian customs) are mechanically altering your knife so it becomes a gravity knife !

you know what, I'd be very interested in trying it.
Even just the tie-wrap. Legally I don't think they have the right to remove it.

You could put a couple drops of pancake syrup in the pivot,when it dries they sure couldn't flick it open and it would wash out.
