Hi all, I am a 42 year old Mom whose son has numerous spyderco's....he's gotten me to want one for myself (actually the quality of them got me to want one!) Anyway, which do you think would be better to be on my keychain for general purpose light kind of stuff. I can't decide. I do like the way the cricket closes (one hand), but am not experienced enough to make the choice. thanks for your help.

Between the Ladybug and the Cricket, I would recommend the Cricket. I think it performs better for small chores like opening plasting and small boxes. I bought my wife a CRKT (Columbia River Knife and Tool) Delilah. It is a very small, one hand knife which she keeps on her key ring. The only problem is that the extremely sharp wharncliff (straight edge) blade shape make puncturing things like your fingers very easy. I think that the Cricket blade shape with the talon end shape is more safe and just as effective as the Delilah.
In general, for lightweight use, I always prefer a liner lock like the Cricket has. You can pull the knife out, open, use it, close it and put in away before people even realize you have a knife in your hand. Good luck. (The only advantage that the Ladybug has is the colors that are available).

I have both and if it wasn't for the cash, I would have about 3 crickets.
The cricket is one of those sheeple friendly knives in a way. It's small size doesn't raise too many eyebrows.
You can normally use it and have it away b/f it's noticed too with the size and liner lock. Mine opens silky smooth(after a few minor adjustments), and damn fast.
We all start with 10 fingers. Those with Spydies have 9 to spare, Still need a thumb. Good thing I still have 8 to spare...

You can't go wrong with either one but the Cricket is my favorite. Especially the Alluminum handled ones. Besides I like the clip on the side to attach to my pocket or whatever you need.

Go with the Cricket. The blade is hard to beat and the lock is very easy to close. But as mentioned, also check out the Delilah Peck. I used to use one as a money clip before moving up to a Sampson and then to a Toad.
Good luck,
Matt

Given those 2 options, the Cricket is the better choice. However, not being a fan of hawkbill knives, I can't help but wonder if you shouldn't have considered the Dragonfly as well. It is between the Ladybug and Cricket in price, and has only a 1/4" longer blade.

I would have to go with the cricket also if your looking for a blade that small. If you go a little bigger go with either the navigator or the calypso jr.

Thanks for the info, people. I ordered a plain-edge FRN Cricket today online.
