View Full Version : Please, think for my little boy...

Yesterday, at 10:30 am, the daycare center where my little 2 years old boy Ludovic goes call me at work to tell me he has picked up a syringe with blood in it and that maybe he stepped on it because there was a little bruise with blood under his little right foot.
We live in a big city (not by choice) and drug users are every where.
We went to Ste-Justine (A children hospital in Montreal) and he now is on AZT for a month. It's the main drug used in tri-therapy for aids. He's only two...
He also had a schock treatment for B hepatitis. As for A and C, there is no real treatment... There is not enough blood in the serynge he found to test for any of these sickness, but enough to get in his blood...
he will be tested several time for six months. My girlfriend is taking a month off 'cause the side effects could be very violent.
In the 147 similar cases in the past ten years, none of the children were infected (that is on what I'm hanging to...)
I am not a believer in any sort of god. But I believe in the power of the will.
please, have a thought for my boy...
Simon

Aloha psimonl,
I happen to have a great relationship with Christ, and I have said a prayer for you and yours immediately upon reading...
 I kinda got pissed when I read this thread because when my family and I used to live in an apartment a few years back it was right across the street from a park. Nice park, but at night, all the druggies hung out there, doing their "thing". I had to always perform a shakedown there before letting my daughter play! I recall finding several syringes...
Take care and God bless.

Thank you all... And for your information, I do have a lot of respect for every those who believe, and thank you to include us in your prayers...
as for little Ludovic seems to be taking the medecine pretty well. He's only two and taking a drug desingned to fight one of the most dangerous ilness outthere... It's hard for us to believe. Usually, when my children are sick, we just give them liwuids, rest and Jell-o ( :) ), that cures everything...
I today learned that the commander in chief of the police station in the daycare area will take this mather personnaly. What bothers me the most, is that its a common phenomenon in this part of the city (south-central). Drug users just throw theis neddles everywhere. They have a place called cactus where they distribute sterilized needles to junkies. I always thought that was a good idea, that it could help prevent disease transmission. But now, I feel that it is easier for them to just throw away the used and filthy ones and go get new clean ones...
And you know what, the way the daycare center backyard is made, the needles had to be put there ON PURPOSE... %$%?$ I would put a bullet threw their heads... They could built something to prevent that, but they need the local school board authorization (They own the place...) F%$/$%/ Bureaucraty... We are talking about our future here...Our innocent children...
It really puts thing in persectives...
It's also really hard because we don't want to talk about this in front of his sister. She's 7.5 years old, been to that daycare cente a while ago and we don't want her to stress about his beloved brother...
Next thursday, we have a first blood test, mainly for hepatais. I'll keep you updated...
Again, thank you all very much, and I wich no one having to live this...

I got a phone call this morning from the daycare director. She is planning a reunion between the administrator councel, the police and the school's principal (they share the same shcool yard's fence) on thursday night and she invited me. She told me that they already took some action as like getting the fence higher, condemn a part of the schoolyard and the daycare center playground, the police is making 24/24 rounds around the place (special attention) and they have started shopping for UV lights that would be on all night. Usually, it is used in places like gas station's bathroom so junkies can't see their veins so they can't shoot themselves up... But hey, do you really think they aim for a vein ???
Well we'll see is there is as much acting as talking...
Sonic boy***
Our seringes distribution is basically based on yours: They give 2 for every one thay bring. You bring in 5, they give you ten... But what do you do with 20 seringes ? you throw away some, you'll allways have more than what you bring. But if you only have one, maybe you don't wash it like you should, but you keep it, you don't throw it away in children playground...
And no, it seems, after some basic investigation, that the needle was pretty fresh...
Dialex***
yes, there is too much off all kind of people on this planet... and scum seem to multiply faster than good people...
Talked to the doctor who will follow my little boy...
He told us that a child drove a needle full of blood infected with AIDS from his junkie-parents and didn't get contaminated... But like I said, its hepatatis I'm affraid of...
Sorry if I keep brining this thread up, but it's the only place where I can VENT... I'm the strong one in the family and there is no other place where I can speak my mind out loud like here... You really help me...
Thank you and sorry...

Yesterday, little Ludovic got to the hospital for his first of a full line of tests. They wanted to know if his white and red blood cells were ok. And yes they are. His liver is taking the medecine quite well too. But for the past 2 days, he doesn't want to take his drugs... The doctor said that even thought he's only 2 years old, he made the relation between his sleepeness and the medecine... that's why we have to be a little bit more "convincing"...
On the other hand, at the daycare center, things are moving slow. The building is owned by the city school board and they see things through money. Everything is about money, budget and cost. It's weird, I don't see a price tag attached on children health... Maybe it's because ITS TOO VALUABLE... F*** Bureaucraty when it comes to human...
More later

It’s been a month… Little guy took his last dose of drug Tuesday… Went to the hospital for more tests and a last hepatitis B shot yesterday. For a whole month, he didn’t have any side effects. The doctor said it was the first time in ten years he sees a child taking that kind of medecine without any disconfort at all… He also said that in 85% of the time, physical signs of hepatatis would show within the first month, wich none appears with Ludovic.
Well, today, we just received a phone call from the hospital… All white cells level , blood cells and everything they checked are normal. They even cancelled the next two appointments and they only will see him in five months. That is really great news…
Also, we tried to find another daycare center, wich was very hard. And we decided to stick with the same, as it is by far the best center we’ve seen. And we visited more than 10. What made us decide is that I kept a really good and tight relation with the direction so I can have a look at all the modifications that are beeing done to secure the place. They are moving faster than expected (getting the fence higher, more spot lights activated by movements, sections of the playground closed, removal of dangerous area…) The only downside is that Ludovic’s educator couldn’t take the stress… She resigned. I tried to make her change her mind, but she didn’t… Too bad…
All in all, I also want to thank you all… I was really afraid…Usually my feelings aren’t wrong… And I had bad feelings at first about this, and it seems they were wrong… Wich is nice, in this case…And I needed to vent, and I did, and you listened… Thank you very much and I’ll tell you in 5 month the last results….
Simon
