Sam,
Impressive forum, especially that the company ceo monitors & replies.
#1 I receintly broke the plastic pocket clip on my old endura (circa '92/'93). I'm amazed it has lasted this long and that I haven't lost it. I see in the forum that you guys can put a replacement clip on these old knives, maybe factory sharpen the serrated edge too? Can you do this? How?
#2 I didn't realize how much I liked these knives until I broke this one. It has been going downrange w/ me for years & I'm kind of attached to it. (Also have a Dragonfly for dress-up days.) I'm not a collector or enthusiast, I just appreciate good tools.
These knives seem to have a cult following in the EOD business. The folding serrated blade is especially usefull for cutting shock tube, time fuse, & det cord by closing the blade into the handle. The serrations hold the material in place and a clean square cut is achieved. (Kind of like a cigar cutter & better than crimpers.)
When I broke my Endura I replaced it with another maker's knife. I really wanted a tanto blade with a 50/50 edge. The new knife is very nice, good quality, & not cheap. But it just doesn't feel, carry, open, close, or cut like a Spyderco. After 9 years I,m spoiled.
#3 Here's the pitch! How about a lightweight/nylon Endura sized knife with a tanto blade. 50/50 edge would be a good option, too. Tanto blade appears stronger, less likely to snap the tip, and is almost a chisel. This style is also very popular w/ law enfocement officers and EOD techs. We use our tools hard. (I looked at the collaboration knife but a simple nylon production type seems more appealing to me.)
Thanks for listening.
