View Full Version : dinosaur bone kiwi
how many of such a unit are out there and do such creations by santa fe stoneworks have a following at all? are their spyderco's limited in production or do they keep pumping out a huge volume of the same customized creation?
i'm just trying to decide between a factoty jig bone kiwi or a dinobone one.

I have had 2 of the dino bone Kiwis, the first one had bone that did not look very good, the second was the best I have seen yet(Deacon now has it).
If you get a Dino bone make sure you are getting the one you are seeing in a pic because there is alot of differance in the patterns in the dino bone.
I am sure Deacon will be along with some nice pics.Santa Fe does some really nice work.

i'm just trying to decide between a factoty jig bone kiwi or a dinobone one. :confused:No real way to determine how many dino bone Kiwis have been made to date, or how many will be made in the future. Santa Fe packs them is a special box, so I would assume they intend to make a fair number of them. Not sure what your idea of "huge volume" is, but would guess there might be somewhere between one and two hundred of them. In addition to Dinosaur Bone, they also advertise the Kiwi in MOP, Black Pearl, Turquoise, Jet, and Bloodstone. They will also make one for you using any of the other stones / shell they work with. They also will make you one using scale material you supply - I've had them do Kiwis for me in Sambar Stag, Petoskey Stone, Stabilized Birdseye Maple and Rhodonite.
If you are looking at the Kiwi as an investment, I honestly would be very surprised if it appreciated siginficantly in value. I say that because, even the early Police and other models embellished by Santa Fe and sold directly through Spyderco do not generally command high prices.
