View Full Version : A "Sinister" Thank You to Mr. Glesser

The sentiment may have been offered before, but I must express my thanks to Mr. Glesser for making so many models lefty-friendly. Those of us who are "sinister," or "gauche" may be in the minority, but we still appreciate recognition. In anticipation of the Ocelot, I realized again how diverse the ambidextrous selection is in the Spyderco line.
Some righties appreciate it as well. Besides general weak-side carry, the ambidextrous option also offers a more reliable opening into Pikal with the waved Endura. I have just learned this lately.
Mr. Glesser, are you or any of your loved ones left-handed? What prompts you to be so considerate?
I agree! I'm carrying my Caly Jr. in my left front pocket as I type this, and I'm really grateful that I can carry it (and others) and use it perfectly easily with my left hand. Some things just make you smile, don't they? :D

That is one of the many reasons I prefer Spydercos. I've got an Ayoob in my left front pocket right now, and a Dodo in the left rear pocket.
My thanks to you Spyderco, for making knives I can unlock without dismembering my fingers. :)

I'll add my Thank You to the list. Definitely a great selection of full ambi knives and a very good selection of 4 way configurable ones.

Hi Jaguar.
We've been making left handed models or versions since our first model in 1981. My wife Gail, (VP of Spyderco) is left handed. ;)

Put me on the list of thankful lefties Mr. Glesser
And here is a tidbit that should make all of us who have trouble using safety scissors proud... while only about five percent of the population is strongly left handed (i.e. not ambidextrous in the least), about forty percent of shuttle astronauts are. Coincidence? I think not!!
Also, stwerdesses is the longest word spelled entirely on the left handed side of the keyboard

I am personally grateful and thrilled to have knives that I CAN open with either hand!!

I'm just waiting for a left hand ONLY knife... make the right handed ppl go nuts because they have to adjust for us.
forget having a variation, just left hand.
Gonna need something to work on my left hand mobility again :p
We're considering a lefty only Kopa. What handle material turns lefties on?

Wow, a lefty only Kopa? :D
Yes please!
I quite like the Evrina. How about Mastodon ivory? Of course dino bone is also nice.

Sold. I need a nice upscale looking knife, and the Kopa being right hand only was the one thing holding me back. As for handle materials, I'll buy whatever, I'm easy to please. Though I would prefer a wood inlay of some type. If I were more knowledgeable I would make recommendations for a wood type, but don't know much more than what looks nice in my opinion. Purple Heart is always a favorite, but again, not sure if it translates well to handle material. :o

I plan on buying it regardless of the the Sinister Design...how about Qunicewood?...or some wood that that has a fresh, non-standard grain pattern to better proclaim the special nature of this Right Brained model.

It's a dressy knife, so as a Lefty, I get turned on by Mother of pearl or black Cape Buffalo Horn.

I'm torn between bark mastodon ivory and evrina. Maybe evrina clip side and mastodon ivory on the other?
Hi Thom, I don't think there is any more Evrina. We used the last of it on the recent Kopa.

salWell Sal, stag would be this lefty's first choice, but I realize it may drive the price up to much. Jigged bone, with a jigging pattern like the C27 and the Kiwi would be fine.

I'd rather see the stag over the jigged bone...maybe jigged bone looks better in person, but I find it repulsive in the pics... :)

I received yesterday my Endura FRN, and switched the clip to LH carry. Man, you cant imagine how comfy that is! Its my 2nd knife in ambi carry option, but the feeling is definitely very good. Thanks Spyderco for the ambi. Thanks Paul for the help with these goods.
