A question for someone @ Spyderco. Why do some of the internet sellers get the fancy white Spyderco boxes with gold foil trim and catalogs etc., and others end up with mean little black or white thin cardboard boxes with the safety sheet only?

Is there a pricing difference option for them, or is it just the large blade models that get the special treatment?

I ran a search on the forum but found no related questions/answers to this one. Thanks for your time.

scolby,

Different models come in different packaging. US made knives all are put into slider boxes (the white box with the bug). Many of our Japanese produced models are delivered in those little black, red or blue 'flap end' boxes (Ladybugs, Co-Pilots,Cathermen, Harpies etc). Some of the Japan made items arrive in bulk and those too go into the slider boxes. We also offer clam-packaging on most models as some dealers prefer it so they can hang product on peg boards in their stores.

We've been working on new packaging,I'll give you heads up when it's ready. Looks pretty cool....
