I have all three colors in my collection, and while I won't say "prefer", I did not see any need to switch from my grey "user" to a burgundy one.

I've got a black one and a burgendy, I like the black better but the zdp-189 wins me over to the new one.

I only have the burgundy, but If I could I would have them all. I like the burgundy look and the grey look equally well and although I love the performance of the ZDP I prefer the solid look of the vg-10 blade. The lamination line looks good, if it is even all the way down on both sides, which is rare. I have three models and out of those, two are uneven and I feel it kinda throws the look off. Don't get me wrong now, I really appreciate Sal's generosity in offering us this remarkable steel at this low of a price. As far as looks go I would have prefered a solid ZDP over the lamination line unless they are really even.

I've managed to find all four of them over time (micarta, black frn, grey frn and now burgandy frn) and I think I like the ZDP burgandy best. This thing is hair-popping sharp.

I have all 3 color FRN ones. I switched the Grey model clip with the burgandy model clip. I've been using the Burgandy one for work most days. Easier to handle (or me) then the kopa.

I have both the Gray VG-10 Calypso Jr and the Burgundy Calypso Jr with ZDP-189. The ZDP-189 version is simply a blast to use. It just don't get dull very easy. I normally don't get too blown away by different blade steels but ZDP-189 is in a league of it's own.

ZDP even has a different mode of sharpness. The edge is really grippy. When I begin a cut into something like plastic, rubber or thick cardboard it just slices into the surface better than anything I have ever encountered. Also when I am doing a lot of continual cutting all I have to do to maintain the sharpness is to hit it on the 204 ultra fine stone. I use it like a Steel and it just keeps that blade as sharp as a needle point.

ZDP-189 is the "new kid on the block" and he is taking over :p

I love that clip, Chris. I've been thinking of doing the same. Now if I can just find that gray Caly with the broken tip.... :o

You know Knut it is really kind of funny in a way. Because if you look at the pictures of the Burgundy Calypso Jr. that the Spyderco booth gave us at the BLADE show this last summer you will see that they intended to use that same clip off of the Gray Calypso jr. The one with the bead blasted Satin Stainless with the black silohette of Spydie I think is a lot nicer clip that the one that is Gold on Black.

I was talking to the folks at SFO not too long ago and they told me that you can buy those different clips that will fit on the Calypso Jr. But If I am missing something here I would like to know what?

No mystery Joe. I have a gray Caly jr with a broken tip that I no longer carry, I just can't find it. I'd like to salvage the clip off of it.

my burgundy one is my preferred cally jr. b/c it seems to have a "smoother" pivot action vs. my gray one and it is definitely sharper outta the box !

You are right Brian, the grey clip does look better on the burgundy...what is with the Red Bull? :p

I have none of Caly Jrs. but would probably prefer gray first, then burgundy one, and then black, micarta...

Hint, hint: ;) if anyone knows where I can still get 'em, feel free to share the secret (secretly via PM is fine, too)
