Seeking opinions of what knife you would say was most likely to survive a lifetime regardless of conditions, mishaps, abuse and neglect (not that anyone would intentionally do that). The Manix C95GPS looks virtually bullet proof to me. :)

Milie isn't a bad choice either. But I think the Dodo would last a long tome as well. Definantly useable as well.

chinook and para-mili are good to !
endura will also go for a long time and is not that expensive !
wait for the endura 4 and you get liners as well !

Aloha bodz and welcome!

The Manix did indeed feel like "it was built like a tank" when I handled one in March. Lots of variables here, but you are on the right track...however...

I *think* I have a "Rhino" Lil' Temp' arriving soon...so my answer may change. ;)

God bless ;)

Lil temp is a lil tank....

millie and endura will take a lot of abuse and keep on kicking.

my ss dragonfly has held up quite well for 4yrs of abuse.

Chad is right on with the Manix. The Chinook II is one tough cookie as well. Blackninja is on the right track with the Lil Temperance.

If you are inclinded to do a lot of hunting then please don't overlook the Impala or the G-10 handled Military.

IF you wouldn't mind beating up a beautiful knife then the Titanium Handled ATR would be a dandy choice.

I have my personal favorite for EDC which is the C-44 big Dyad. I have carried it for some time now and I have put it through the rigors of my every day duties and it just keeps on ticking. I hope that helps.

Answer: Any :spyder: co! :p
Seriously, any of the G-10 beasts Military,Para,Manix,Dodo, are pretty much bomb proof.

I would vote for any well-built titanium framelock. If you throw in h-1 steel and washers that are integrated part of the handle like spiderco's frn models. That would be about perfect. What kind of a knife would you expect to build a drop-off and 50 foot cliff into a sandy tide pool. And opening is immediately upon retrieval.

Among real world Spydies, any of the 4mm bladed S30V models. But agree with Druid that a titainium framelock with an H-1 blade, preferably a titanium compression framelock with a 4mm H-1 blade would be the most "bulletproof".

Pretty much any dual lined G-10 knife (Manix, Chinook, Lil' Temp, Gunting, etc.) is going to be nearly indestructible.

I wonder though, a little off topic, how much force will G-10 take before warping or breaking? I know FRN will bend with enough pressure(not easy to do), but G-10 is a little sturdier. How much force would unlined G-10 (like on the Dodo) be able to handle before it is damaged?

Sorry for the bizarre question, it just kinda popped in my head while reading this thread.

For surviving indefinitely....it's going to be a fixed-blade knife. No moving parts to wear or fail. Fixed blades are inherently stronger, for the most part.
