manix 80 mm tip-up or tip down?

hi,

just a little question? What sort of clip carry do you prefere for the mini manix?
I just get a CE mini manix, and tried the both.
It seems that tip-down is more discrete in jean's pocket (the knife is easily visible because it stick out of the pocket more than in tip-down), and for me, with the size of this knife, it is more confortable, easy and fast to grab it of the pocket than in tip-up carry.
I agree that with some smaller knives as my native, tip-up is better.
What is your opinion?

I prefer TU. I haven't changed mine yet though.

Not really a fan of clipped carry, but if I were to carry the 80mm that way, I would set it up for LH TD carry, as it would be both less noticable and less easily recognized as a knife by anyone who did notice it when carried that way.

First thing I did when it arrived (after taking pictures) was changing the clip for tip up carry. It does make the knife a bit more visible but drawing and opening it a lot easier for me. Discrete carry doesn't concern me much and most people don't seem to recognize a pocketknife anymore anyway.

i don't see how it is easier to carry a knife tip-up (except in the rear pocket). I carry mine in my right front pocket.Take it between the thumb (inside the pocket, on the scale) and the index (lightly on the clip outside the pocket), so it fit perfectly in my hand when i pick it out of the pocket. (i don't know if you figure it well...) :confused:
For a emerson knife with a wave system, this is different.

Tip up or tip down carry is mainly about personal preferences.
Given a choice I prefer tip up and I prefer the blade against the seam of the pocket. There is no right or wrong way to carry however.

i never said that tip-up is a wrong way to carry a knife. I just gave my opinion.

Although I really like tip-up, I would go tip-down with this one for the sake of more discreet carry.

Personally, I prefer the waistband, right hip, tip up carry. Extremely discrete for any and all sizes of knives, saves pockets, and doesn't interfere with gettin stuff out of a pocket. And very fast access, IMO. :D

I carry mine the same as Gerard Breuker does. I like tip up. I changed it right away. I tried it in the tip down cofiguration, but found (for me) that it was harder for me to get my hand in my pocket to get keys or change that way. It is very much a personal preference though.

I changed mine to TU right after receiving it as well. It just felt better to me that way. Of course, I've been carrying a Wegner, Wayne Goddard, Native, & Lil' Temp all in TU configuration lately. :D
