After a lengthy search i managed to find a pe 440v,with a black clip.
I must say, even though it's my first time handling one ,I AM VERY impressed!
I now know why smcfalls & others think so highly of this model.
Another beautiful piece of craftsmanship from Sal & the crew.
Thank you!
regards,Rick. :spyder:

It is an incredible knife. I personally prefer S30v and a SE, but whats a the Difference among friends :D . An amazing SD tool to say the least! Congrats on your score!

Nice purchase.

I've been carrying a Gunting and beating the heck out of a drone for almost 4 years now. Cool knife!

If you're looking for leather you can look up username Vess on bladeforums. There is a link in his sig to his website. He does excellent work. I have 3 of his offerings and have been quite happy with them.

For kydex you might want to check out Rob Hummelbaugh of survival sheaths. I have one of his tek lok sheaths and I also highly recommend his work.

I don't know there were any PEs in S30V ever made.
OTOH, 440V isn't bad at all. Congratulations and enjoy your new fine knife. An awsome tool and a great design, what could you ask for more?

When the knife was still being manufactured it was a moderate seller at best. Now it is exploding. I just traded to get another one. I had to trade high to get it but it was well worth it. I wanted an extra one for the EDC arsenal. Mine is S30V CE. Actually both of mine are. However there is nothing wrong with 440V except it is a bear to sharpen. But good steel none the less. It is a "shoo in" for the Spyder Hall of Fame.

One more thing about the Gunting that I have never heard mentioned. If you live in a locale that has very strict knife length limits ( totalitarian communist in other words) then the short blade on the Gunting would make it a great candidate for an EDC is such an area. It and the Yojimbo would be quite the tag team in a blade restricted area. ;) :spyder:

The 440V version also had an adjustable pivot pin as I recall, something removed from the S30V version as unnecessary

I suppose it bears mentioning that if there has been some possible thoughts of inequity where obtaining that spare Gunting is concerned you might be inclined to contact they from whom it was obtained that they might make it right by you via some means of additional recompense.

I am sure they will be very reasonable. No? :D

A good point, and one of my reasons for favoring the Gunting.

Rick- Congratulations on your acquisition, glad to see you're enjoying it. As I mentioned on the other forum, do remember not to kin op on your leg. It's bad for the blood supply ;)

Do go to the site that Dr. Lecter supplied though, its great for information about this oh so glorious tool, and a great place to pick up the instructional videos. And you can find Guntings in S30V, but they're going to be combo edge, most likely.

There were S30V Plain edges produced, but in severely small numbers. I've heard less than 100 were produced. So my odds of getting another are pretty slim to none.

Dr. Lecter- The S30V models have adjustable pivot pins as well. As for trading for Guntings, I recently acquired some through a trade as well, and feel I got a much better deal than the other individual involved. Something for which I still feel guilty. :o That issue will be addressed though.

Hi Rick,
congratulations on your find. Just found one myself this past weekend. Drew blood on the first attempt to clip it into my pocket. the clip was tight so I used my thumb to hold the pocket tight and when I tried to push the knife into the pocket with my other hand, I somehow managed to partially open the knife enough to poke myself in the thumb holding the pocket tight. Felt the blade hit bone(right on the thumb joint), but luckily nothing serious. So now I'm planning on getting a sheath before I'll carry it.

LOL reminds of when aXed first got hers even with both the label and verbal warning from me she KinOp'd the live blade open on her leg and made a clean perfect cut through her jean pants.

No blood was drawn though, luckily.
