That is so cool Butch! Thanks for sharing, I'm looking forward to more pics. Your Nephew sure is lucky, I never got to have that much fun at 3! Have you made any other "crafts'? I'd like to see those too. Thanks again :)

I understand this correctly, you made the Micarta yourself from Jeans fabric?
That's very nice, and the knife is beautiful. :)
Very nice, Butch. Very well done - I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the pictures. :)

Butch- I would TOTALLY be into helping you prepare and make your fine Micarta! It is something I have been wanting to learn how to make, due mostly (95%) to your inspiration! I'm telling you- that rainbow micarta was absolutely gorgeous, and your blue jeans micarta looks great! I could even donate some jeans to the mix...
I'll PM you with my phone number so you can give me a call, OK? Thanks for the invite- I'll take you up on that! I would love to see your custom knives in person, too! *drool emoticon* :D

Could you explain the process? RonT and I were just discussing how you might have made the material. I think you laid the material out and coated each piece with epoxy, pressed them down tight and then cut out the shape. I do commend you on a very nice job. The whole knife is a keeper as far as I am concerned. :D :D

thats about how it works i do put stuff between the plates and the fabric that might be BBs or nuts and bolts or what ever i might have on hand
if i didnt the "grain" would just be straight sept where i grind the handle shape handle shape
i plan on getting a 20 ton press and making 12x12" plates
so i can make extra if someone would like a little to use
the knife thing is more just for fun but it cant hurt to recoup some cash too
Really nice. Hope you can show us the process.

forgot to add that the top knife is not finished nice due to the fact a friend of mine is goingto put it through some testing
its getting a 0 degree edge bevel we both want to see how it holds up
both are cpm3v at round 59-60 Rc
just a little info sanding 3v by hand is not fun i tried but ended up putting a cork belt finish on the bottom knife
