I was doing a search on Bram, reading about all his martial arts qualifications and came across the following article: "http://www.bladeforums.com/features/shot/rekat.html"
From what I see it looks like a normal everyday good ol Gunting, but yet the article is on the "REKAT", can anyone clear this one up for me?
Thanx

Rekat is a company name Round Eye Knife and Tool. They made the Escalator (Gunting in a previous life) Hope this helps

This is a long and painful story.
The main point is that the escalator is a pre-version of the Gunting - far inferior to the Gunting - and is made by rekat.
Don’t get the escalator - not even to see how good the Gunting is in comparison.
Get the Gunting and the trainer and attend a seminar by Bram.
It’s simple really.
Essentially, Spyderco purchased all design and manufacturing rights from REKAT. They are not supposed to be making escalators.

I see, no I found it strange, I came across the site quite by accident and saw pics of Bram using this blade that looked like a Gunting (you cant see a good full on view of it on the pages), the locks and pressure point attacks he was doing looked the same as the kind of techniques one would use with a Gunting, so I thought "what else can it be"
I thought the guy that drew the site up mabey got confused and called it a REKAT since I went to the REKAT site and couldnt find this blade called an "esculator".
Im very happy with my Spyderco's and wouldnt bother spending cash on a blade like a REKAT, Gerber had all my business until they treated me with "stunning customer service"(yes Im been sarcastic <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle> ) Spyderco now has all that business and in my opinion is not ever likely to lose it.
Thanx for the info on the blade.

MaNcEr:
The review you saw was very old and done by Blade Forums @ the last Blade Show the Escalator was shown at.
yup..I certainly did design the Escalator..it Kin-Oped, it escalated in force..and did almost all those cool martial arts applications one can do with a Gunting..
hmm Gunting connotations mean the same thing..how nice...
REKAT made my knife for me back then. It was the first generation. As with all things they evolve..The Gunting is the next evolution..
Model T to Viper...
The current model the SPYDERCO GUNTING is the best version one can produce with current technology...Its the standard that all other versions will be judged from...
Things I could have wished the Escalator to do the GUNTING will do..
REKAT and I released each other from all claims...my design, names % concepts walked with me...
SPYDERCO exclusively licenses the patent & design from me...and they made the GUNTING possible..
The production of Escalators officially ended 20 months ago...RIP
