View Full Version : Do you pair your carry knives thematically?

:spyder: I always pair my strong and weak front pocket knives, either by handle material, blade shape or knife function. My manix goes with my Lil' Temp. My pe chinook carries with my ce chinook. My JDSPYDOHAWK (endurahawk) goes around with it's lil' cousin the pe delica. For more subtle carry (work) I carry a dodo and polywog. My ATR, persian, kerambit, civilian and stretch have no rules and get mix and matched. My caly jr's get carried loose in the back pocket.
Do y'all do this or have I finaly gone insane  :spyder:

Interesting point :) For me, for the most part, yes. Left front - Delica and SAK loose with a BM Mini-Grip clipped. Right front - Meerkat clipped, Dragonfly and LM Micra loose. Wave II and Inova X5T on my belt. I tend to wear cargo pants, so when I acquire new blades, they get rotated there.

No, I don't anymore. I decided recently that I have enough when carrying 1 Spyder(my current rotation consist of: Paramil/SE, Dodo/SE, NativeIII/SE and Ti ATR/SE)
However, my EDC is ALWAYS accompanied with my Squirt and SAK.
Furthermore, there is always an Assist II clipped to the sunscreen of my car and a big Gerber multitool in the glove department.

I took the ugly black clip off my burgundy Caly Jr and carry it loose in one front pocket. It's for delicate slicing (eg food).
On the opposite side, I have a Dodo in my shorts' cargo pocket for utility cutting (cardboard, tape, packages, rope, etc), and because it's clipped lower on my leg, I could still get to it easily with either hand if I was upside down belted into a car seat.
However, the cargo pockets are still high enough I can reach the knife while standing, too.
With one on each side, I can be holding my baby son with either arm and still reach a knife if necessary.

I sometimes plan for complementary uses, a serrated and a plain edge blade for instance. At work it's my dodo for work and my salt for lunch. When working around the house and yard a tough work knife and a sharp slicer. I always have a SAK or leatherman in my purse so the rest is just gravy.

might want to think about moving that to the glove box, console or even cliped to the bottom of your seatbelt
i know i wouldnt want to be hit with a knife if i got in to an accident and what if it opened while being bounced around the car

I have the equivalent of Stanley and Ollie in my pocket today. I have the Big C-44 Dyad and the C-52 Burgundy Calypso Jr to assist in the duties. Stanley & Ollie can really make you laugh sometimes. But if anyone violates or jepordizes my wellbeing then the "joke" is on them  . JD :spyder: O

I Keep a SE Endura, always on me. I have lately been EDCing my PE Native, sharpened to the point that it scares me. The Endura is an ongoing project, as far as sharpening goes, but it's pretty sharp.
So, I like a "work" knife, and a really sharp knife on me at all times.
I carry other :spyder: 's, but they rotated around by mood, weather, and moon phases  .

I keep my old orange intergrated clip rescue hung from my turn signal stem by its' lanyard. I always have my pe stainless frame lock cricket as a money clip. It is very handy for trimming coupons at the store. I cut out a in store coupon at Papa Johns' Pizza at the counter last week with the Cricket, the guy next to me says "WOW, that little thing is SHARP! I just smiled and thought-"you should see my Yojimbo that is in my right front pocket" :D The blue Yojimbo rides in the rf. I clip the UKPK, 80mm ce Manix, or Lil' temp to the right rear pocket.

I must be the odd one out, cause I only carry one kinife at a time! If I did carry two, I would pair up the Dodo and the Caly jr.. Dodo for utility, Caly for slicing and food prep. That would cover all the bases.
I carry (clipped) my Cricket in my front right pocket and my Delica in my left front pocket. My Cricket doesn't get the  looks like my Delica does. ;) I'd call them the perfect pair. :p

Aloha Michael,
I *used* to do this. Most common being C10&11 or C10&07 back in the day. As of late, it's been my Persian and whatever I wanna "play with" that day...like byrd Crossbill CE, SubCom, SpyderFly...
Need a C102 user soon...The C102 Forum 2005 Knife is like owning a full race grand prix Honda 500 (Like the one my man Mick Doohan used to conquer with!) and not having a track to ride it on! :(
God bless and be safe Michael ;)

On weekends, when carrying my customized Schempp Persian with the "bone stag" scales, my stag Kiwi will usually find its way into my watch pocket, as they do make a nice pair.
Aside from that, no. At least not yet. I do have another Kiwi which has birdseye maple scales, and a nice chunk of maple left over from that project, so somewhere down the road, I could be carrying a matching Stretch. :D

I pair my forest green serrated 2" Ladybug with my car keys on my keychain. Does that count?
