Aint this a good idea?

Hi guys, Chamber came up with what I reckon was and is a brilliant idea for the Spyderco site, and that is having a Spyderco chatroom where we could join and chat about whats on our minds conserning blades.

It would be a help to those who have questions since they could get help in realtime from those with more knowledge.



What you guys think of a chatroom that we could also access via JAVA through our browser (like lagnets system &quot;www.lagnet.org.za&quot<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>



Any support on this one?

While I'm not a big on for chat ( of any kind) I can see merit to a spydrco chat room for those who
do like this activity. Policeing it could be a problem tho, some folk's forget their manners when they
use a chat room. Still it could be worth a try.......

I find MIRC to work well for chat.

The first person in the room has Operations power, and can give it to others. Ops allows you to boot and ban people's IPs from that room.

I'm normally in IRC, and have been on it for about a year. I can help with most questions about it. available at www.mIRC.com I believe.


We all start with 10 fingers. Those with Spydies have 9 to spare, Still need a thumb. Good thing I still have 8 to spare...

Yeah, no you could have 3 rooms, one for each section on the forum.
All that is needed is a bot to keep watch over whats been said, any swearing results in a kick, repeated offenses by same IP results in a ban, these pll can be permanently removed from our presence.
I enjoy chat, and Id love to be able to speak to you guys in real time as opposed to posting and hoping you see it.
It may take a bit of time, but the room idea can be made a real success, Im sure there wont be to many moments when the rooms are empty, and alot of good well known guys like samo for example wil be there.
Ops can be given on merit, therefore there could always be some1 to look over the room.
We dont need a chatroom for anything, just for the topics at hand (blade tech, mbc, general)

I think it'd be a good idea, if you feel the same PLEASE post saying so, thats the only way this will ever be a reality.

Yeah buddy, I should be thanking you, I never thought of a chatroom on here, and it would be a great help to us all.
I should be having a permanent radio interent connection installed in the next few months (I hope) so Ill be able to chat in the evening for quite a while.

Great idea! I've had lots of questions recently about Spydies, and having a forum in which to discuss them in realtime is a great idea.

Also, having a method for keeping out the riffraff is a very good idea. I've seen numerous forums and chats become deserted because some foulmouthed cad won't leave.

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.
