View Full Version : C105 Persian 75mm - What a beauty!
Got this one yesterday (thanks! - you know who you are!)
I think this is the most beautifull affordable Spyderco! I love it! Excellent size for EDC. Classy but very solid look.

And I improved my lightbox, the light is more diffused. And I'm finally getting good results of my new DSLR (KM5D). But, now I need a real 1:1 macro lens!

Beautiful picture. Magazine quality. Are you a commercial photographer?
I just purchased 2 of the large Persians but they are too large for my taste. I'm trying to find this new smaller version for EDC.

Great picture Ted. The 75mm Persian is very much a "gent's knife". The thinner blade, bolsters and scales make it not only noticeably smaller than the C83, but considerably thinner as well.

Nice pic and really nice looker!
But how is it to open?
I had a full sized Persian that was a bit tight and stiff to open. And without a way to customize it (screw) I traded it out, I just got used to the liner locks - and my adjustable Manix(s) and Chinook(s) II which open smoothly and easly.

I found it a bit stiff. But I am a linerlock fan.

I wish the spydie hole was bigger on that knife, I just think it would look better. (Not to mention for people who actually use knives, a bit easier to open with gloves or when your frozen in Canada)

Ted, does the 75 mm Persian have the same upswept tip as the full sized Persian? I can't tell from the pictures.
Thanks, Joe

Posted the shots below in another thread last week. Nowhere near the quality of Ted's, but perhaps they'll give you an idea of the relative sizes and shapes of the C105 and C83.

Will just add that the C105 is also quite noticeably thinner. Combination of 2.5mm blade and relatively thin bolsters and scales reduce the thickness by around 1/16" ~ 3/32".

Ted, I think I wont lie, when I said your pics are the best which I have seen here.
You should start making pics for blade magazines.
My hat is off.
Thanks all - and no, I'm no pro photographer, it's just a hobby.
Knives are an easy subject, they fit in a lightbox and they sit still - my 2 year old daughter does not ...
Paul - thanks for answering all the questions! ;)

Mine came in yesterday. What a great little knife. Whoever called it a gentleman's folder was right. I'm betting that it's going to be sheeple friendly too.
I've been enjoying my 75 mm Persian everyday since the middle of Dec. '05. I've carried it everyday since it's came in and it's performed beautifully as a cutting tool. I just wanted to bump this back to the top so others can at least enjoy the pictures. :D And maybe it'll motivate someone to purchase on of these fine tools. Gotta do something with that tax return check. :D
This knife is truly a great design for an EDC. I like that it has no jimping to break up the smooth lines. Much easier on the hands and pockets too. I appreciate the bolster guard and shape of the handle. It provides a very superb grip and allows the knife to be comfortable in MANY different grips for utility use. Of course, the build quality is unbelievable. Moki sure makes some fine knives for Spyderco.
All around a keeper for sure.

I'm glad that you are enjoying the knife. I got to meet Ted in Europe and received a print of this picture, great background and composition, nice photo. I really appreciate Ted's archival efforts. Spyderco has a lot of history; Ted's pictoral archive is a great reference to a very interesting evolution, expressed in knives. Thanks Ted...Take Care...Ed

After handling Ed's at the A'dam show, I'm seriously thinking of getting one.
The knife really sticks to my big hands, waay better than the big one(for me that is ;) ). Furthermore it's a real piece of cutlery art
A pity it doesn't come fully serrated, otherwise I would already have one :p
So, too bad for the "serration society" Zen( :D ), but I'm seriously considering ;)

I got mine yesterday. After hearing mr Schempp's design ideas about his knives, and handling one again, it became a must have. First things that stand out; it's thinner compared to the big brother and remarkably smooth opener. I expected a break in period.
I like it alot.
