Hey,
I am back from Mexico, the fishing was slow while I was down there, but I still managed to pull forth a 45 pound dorado and a 15 pound cuda form the crystal blue depths. We missed a couple billfish, but thats fishing.
We really dont have any good kitchen knives around the house so I was thinking about the spyderco santoku,(I cook Asian food a lot), for a all round good kitchen knife. Does anyone have one of these or know anything about it besides what it says in the products section of spyderco's webpage? What kitchen knife would you advise me to get?
Thanks fisherman

Buy one, you'll love it. I bought one for my mother, but when I picked it up, I decided I had to have it. I let her use it once in awhile.

Hey Carson, where in Upstate NY do you live. I am in Scotia, next to Albany.

I agree with carson, the Santoku is a must have. It is the knife that I use most in the kitchen and is great for preparing stir-fries etc. Excellent ergonomics and the MBS-26 steel holds a superb edge. I sharpen mine to 30 degrees. I also have a Paring knife, a serrated Utility and a plain edge Small Utility. The only one I'm not so keen on is the serrated Utility, it seems too thin for its length and is too flexible as a result. I don't like the serrations much either but, having said that, it's my wife's favourite kitchen knife, so what do I know . Of course she's banned from the Santoku .

Don't worry that the world might end tomorrow, in Australia it's tomorrow already.

Man, what would we do without the Santoku? Arguably, the best kitchen knife I've ever seen...!!! Works even better with a custom concealex sheath for field kitchen work!

The Santoku is THAT good, is it? Is it the best all-around choice? (assuming there is such a thing...) I guess what I am asking is: Is this the best one (among Spyderco kitchen knives) to buy first? Jeff/1911.
