Hello All!

I've just won a NIB numbered Full Size Calypso on eBay for $49.99 including shipping! :D

The seller has only a 90.9% positive feedback but has had no negs since June 2003. I am a born sceptic but had to pull the trigger on this one. What do you gentlement think? Worth the risk?

Regards, Ken

Congrats Ken, certainly sounds like something worth rolling the dice on. Hope your luck on this one is as good as mine has been in similar circumstances.

I don't see why you're asking "worth the risk". You won an auction and they must oblige by a legally binding contract.

I just bought my Civilian with case from eBay for $115. Got it last week. Great blade, bigger than I expected.

$50? For a knife that routinely goes above $200? Heck I would have pulled the trigger on that one too.

Even if it is a gamble, the payoff is well worth the risk.

Let us know how it all turns out.

I agree with Scott here Ken!

Simply commit to it! If the seller IS a flake (God forbid), just send him a pic of yer "guns"! ;) Betcha that Caly will come flying to the UK! :D

Prayers sent regarding your Caly deal... ;)

God bless ya KnifeBro

This is why I asked........it is now over a month since I paid for the knife and it has still not turned up at my friends place in Colorado.

I have contacted the seller and am waiting for him to get back to me.

the "guns" might be coming out to play again! ;) I'm getting too old for all this! :D

D***

That was a heck of a sweet deal too. Hopefully the seller can offer up some amazing excuse. There are some times I don't make it to the post office on time, but a month later?

Good luck with this UK-KEN, still hoping you get the knife though.

That really sucks.

Sorry to hear about the trouble Ken. I never buy from sellers with low feedback. I prefer 100% from small sellers and very large sellers I will accept 99.5%+. It is a gamble yes, but with a track record like 90% it is just not worth it. The seller just can not be trusted with so low a rating. Sure it's not that low but .....

I don't blame you for being concerned Ken, on the other hand, I've had things take over a month and still show up, so it's not hopeless yet. How did you pay for it? If you used PayPal and have not received some proof from the seller that the knife has been shipped by Monday, it might be a good idea to file a claim with them.

I think it's time eBay revised their policy regarding how long a seller has to fullfill their part of the deal once payment has been tendered. The 30 day "window" was somewhat reasonable back in the days when personal checks on an out-of-state bank often took almost three weeks to clear, now with all checks clearing (or bouncing) within two business days, it has become rather excessive.

I think it IS worth the risk. But, do YOU? It is YOUR money etc.

Sounds like you either got a bad seller who ripped you off. Or someone who simply will not complete the sale because he felt it was too low. However most of those transactions they don't take your money first!

I always use Paypal and never let a transaction linger more than 30 days. If it is getting close file a claim and get your money back.

I have gotten ripped off twice on Ebay (with hundreds of other postitive experiences.) It has come out in the wash, however.

I will say, however the two times I was ripped off, were for discontinued knives no longer in production. Hum... I see a trend.

Still hope it works out of you, however... Stranger things have happened.

Ken,
I hope this all works out for you. That's a great price for a super spydie.
I've been looking for a C54 Calypso for only a few weeks. Which Ebay do you have access to, as I haven't seen one in a while and I check on a daily basis?
The last one I bid on went for over $200....more than I wanted to spend.
Neelesss to say, I didn't win it. I'm still looking for one in mint condition. I'll
be happy when you get yours, it's just one less collector that I have to get into a bidding war. CONGRATS ON YOUR FIND!!!

I was "lucky" with this one! :( I was on line (eBay USA) when this one came up for auction with a buy it now and free shipping. That is possibly why you didn't see it, it wasn't there long enough! :) I hope that you find one at the right price.

Ken,

That's not good news, my friend. Has the seller replied to any of your emails?

I must say that I have just had a knife turn up that was sent on the 20th of December, granted, it has had to cross the Atlantic during the festive season. :) I'd say, set a date that you won't let it go by and then start the claim procedure.

All the best,

Simon.

It might as well be stuck or lost in the postal system somewhere; i've had that happen as well. if that is the case, i hope you had the mail insured.

good luck
