New toy, rookie buys a Rookie

Greetings you all,

I bought a NIB G10 Rookie today thanks to a tip from a fellow forumite(thanks a lot Piet.S :cool: ) It was at an outdoor shop a 30 minute drive from where I live.
I know I'm on a budget, but this was too good to let pass. I always wanted one and this one was for sale at EUR 69.
No box, because they "always throw away the boxes of cheap knives" :eek: :eek: .
Anyway, I have my Rookie and I'm happy with it. Nice little bugger. Looks a little fragile though, but maybe that's just me. I'm not planning to chop trees with it.

Perfect fit and finish and just a hint of side to side play, but this was adjustable.

Will this knife hold up just as good as my Delica?

Like the title says: The Rookie is a very serious comeback candidate. If I were to vote on 5 former Spyders to be brought back by the Great Spyder factory the Rookie would either be in the number 1 or 2 slot. That knife was simply the victim of bad timing and maybe lack of marketing.

When that knife was being manufactured I was aware of it but I didn't hear much about it and before you know it: it was deleted from the line. Wouldn't that be a nice one in a Carbon Fiber handle and ZDP-189. It seems like it and the G-10 Police were 2 knives that everyone took for granted but when they were gone they immediately became "cult classics" in their own rite.

Bring it back is all I have to say about it. But a new, revamped, improved version would guarantee a big winner. :cool: :spyder:

I remember that... It as if it was DC'ed before it even hit the streets! I remember I so wanted one of these, especially in G-10.

I think it could be brought back... Sprint run? Special steel... I think it would work, really... :)
