View Full Version : SWICK in the HOUSE!
Got the Swick today (production version) - great package! The knife mirrors the proto, with a bigger finger hole. Sheath is tight and silent (I added a J clip for belt carry). It slices like a demon, sporting the mark "SWICK" on the blade along with the Spyder logo. S30V stonewash looks and feels nice. I has only cut boxes and fruit at this point, but with the slip sheath / hor. carry on the belt, it will get tons of utility work.
Thanks Sal, for the great design and the chance to help out Spyderco.
Pics to follow...

Very nice, RLR. What a great privledge to work so closely with Spyderco. Just one step towards your own design. Did they give any indication when production models will be available ? And are you allowed to post pics ? If so, what are you waiting for !!!
All the best

How exciting! I'm glad to here it has the enlarged finger hole. How is the finish vs. the aus6 SPOT? Even though the sheath isn't presented as a neck knife sheath, will it work as a neck sheath?
I must have three regardless! I'm eager to retire my old rusty SPOT.
Pics - It's a production piece now (came in a box that said so) so see below (note that I added the belt clip)
Hole - sized like the SPOT but not chamfered.
Finish - nicer than AUS SPOT, smoother inside the hole, cutouts, etc... and the stonewash is awesome to me
Sheath - triangular slip sheath with a hole at the very tip suitable for hanging a la neck knife (and tight enough to do so). Tec-Lock drilled in position for vertical or horizontal carry (clips, cords, tec-locks NOT included, so supply your own as needed).
In all a winner, the knife I would have designed from scratch for my size hand.

I wonder if this means that the entire production run is shipping.
I've been waiting for this one for a while now. It looks very handy.

Is this a stupid question?
What's a j clip and where would I get one?
-Bryan
*jealous*
I am SOOOO going to be investing in multiples of this one (funds permitting of course  )
This is currently top of my 'to-buy' list. I'm just worried the limited run will make it difficult for us overseas aficionados to grab them.
Did it just turn up in the post? I'm hankering for more news about dates, prices and anything else new anyone wants to tell us :D
Thanks for info and the pics-looks like a winner to me!

What is the MSRP on that thing though? That's a heft slab of S30V, that can't be cheap.
a) J-Clip - piece of Kydex formed into a belt clip (looks like a J)
b) pricing - I don't know
c) shipping - again, don't know...
I got it in the mail, follow up to the prototype is my guess... again, Thanks a Million Sal!!!

Magnificent :spyder: ...RLR, congratulations on your design/mod being made real…and I like the sheath (though I miss the horizontal tube).
…Yet it is an act of cruelty for Spyderco to say nothing as to when us regular joe-shmoes can acquire 1 of these…and where…and for how much…these are not unreasonable questions. By my count, there are only 479 of these babies left!

So how about giving us the gory details, Spyderco? We can take it! :D

I like it, I'm excited for it, it looks good, but stonewashed steel looks like galvanized steel to me.

That's it. That's the knife I've been wating for. I absolutely love it. Thank you Spyderco :D
Been carrying this baby on walks, etc, using it on wood, cutting inner tubes, frozen hoses. Just great. I snapped it to a carabiner and dangle from a belt loop. Snow, water, it's all been on it and no sign of corrosion. Great user that is getting relegated to page 4 on this forum. Let's give the Swick some love!

...really , I do. :)
I keep checking back here hoping for some info on the SWICK, but alas... :(
It's just hard for us to really get into it when there is nothing known about this knife except that "it exists; and will be available in very limited quantities soon".
...but when? And where? And from Whom? and most importantly: Whow much? I've already set aside some money for it...but will it be enough?
Some tidbits from Spyderco would go a long way toward fanning the flames of interest for this piece. ;)
RLR, I'm sure your mod will get the attention it deserves when some of us actually get a chance to try it out.
...maybe if you posted some more pix? :D
take care...d

I'm not sure I like how this sounds... Helas, we want Swicks ;)
Kelly says Swicks are available now.

Go get 'em folks! Best money you'll spend this year and next!
By the way, how do you all like my Swick-sors:

In a pathetically NEEDY reaction to Sals post, I called the Spyderco factory outlet today…the person who answered said they did not yet have the SWICK! Not even any info on price, etc…such torture! :(
I don’t know who Kelly is, but can she or he tell me how to get my SWICK?
;) It occurred to me that all of this teasing may just be a way for Spyderco to get us to hype this new, limited-edition model …that said, If I could actually get my finger into that SWICK-y finger-hole, I’d be happy to pimp it for days on end! :p
I don’t have a camera, so I can’t post any pictures of bunn-eye-clops like RLR, but I would gladly post lurid descriptions of all the matter I was able to separate with it…that is: when I wasn’t actually out there separating said matter.
…I feel like a kid TRYING to fall asleep on x-mas eve…have you ever actually TRIED to fall asleep?
 …d
Sorry Db,
Kelly is our sales manager. She said the Swick was in the system and on the shelf, but hadn't been announced yet to the dealers. SFO doesn't get product before it's available to dealers.
I would guess to begin shipping next week.
I don't think I would call it a "tease". This project was prompted by forumites. That's why we only did a short run. We're not even sure the "general public" has interest in the model.

Mr., Glesser, thank-you for your response.
Kwai-Koo-Tsu said: "Patience, the essential quality of man" I am learning a lot on your forum, including this essential quality. (Need a bit more practice.)
I can’t speak for the general public, of course, but I’ll do my part to make this mini project a success. I have raved about the S.P.O.T. a few times, and I cannot understand why this knife was not more popular. To this day, I still think it is the best small Spyderco ever…I carry and use mine daily.
I also feel the S.P.O.T. is the best Perrin finger-hole knife in production, period. I have handled and own several La Griffe wannabes, and even an Emerson LaGriffe. (I am completely sold on the finger-hole concept) None are as good. Will the SWICK completely replace my beloved S.P.O.T.? Doubtful, since it is plain edge only, but I do think it will be a fine PE companion. That is; unless, or until, the rescue SWICK sees production!
my thanx…d
Glad to see this come to fruition! Sal, sorry to hassle you, but where will us overseas customers be able to purchase these from? Will New Graham be receiving any?
