Little Blue Wonder(usefulness of a serrated sheepfoot blade)

Greetings you all :)

This afternooon my girlfriend bought some new forks and knifes for the kitchen.
They were very tightly wrapped together with those little tie rips(?) and she couldn't get them loose.

"Arend, can you please help me?"

Well, I took my Recue 79mm (which I was carrying) and put the first little serration behind the little suckers and cut them like they weren't even there ;)

This proves again how useful a serrated sheepfoot blade is for everyday tasks :D

After that I offered her to buy her a serrated Cricket, but the answer was still "NO". Well, maybe one day......

I actually started carrying a SE Cricket clipless in my back pocket for these kinds of jobs. I was sharpening my PE knives almost daily since I use them hard...

I still can't believe that is a camera phone.. Thanks for sharing Dutch! :)

Okay, back on topic...

spydutch, I used to carry an ATS55 Rescue Jr....once at work while we were doing a shakedown, one of my co-workers was like, "What good is this? There's no tip?" He said it rather irritatingly so I raised the Jr. as if to slash. He looked like this: :eek: and didn't make anymore wise cracks. :D

I can attest to the usefulness of your SE sheepsfoot through the use of it's predecesor. ;)

I love my Cricket SS. I keep mine clipped in my 5th pocket at all times. My girlfriend is always asking, "Do you have your knife?". Then when she gives it back to me "I can't close it :o "

I have a Rescue 93mm and I'll agree about the Spydie edge :D I'm normally a PE type of guy, but I figured it would be nice to carry one in my Maxpedition. Last week - I used it to open up a cardboard box for a bunch of DVD cases - made short work of knocking the box down :D I'm sorta thinkin' along the lines of a SE Delica now :)

I enjoy what some consider the ugliest Spyderco built, my 93mm orange pug nosed Rescue. The sheepsfoot style with the long flat edge and the serrations have to make it one of the top "cutters" in the whole knife line. The oversized spider hole makes it an easy opener. With its good sized handle it is nice in my hand and yet it isn't heavy.

It is sad that so many folks think that a good knife has to have a sharp point. They seem to forget that the reason we own knives is to "cut" not "stab". I don't know how many times I have seen pictures of Delicas, etc. with the tips busted off and reground into something that looks like a sheepsfoot blade.

No she won't, she's very stubborn(besides that she's sweet though ;) ).

She thinks that the only 2 places for my spydies are in their boxes or in my pocket :(
