Hi sorry to bother you guys.

Its about the Aus-8 Spyderco Ladybug that I purchased for my buddys birthday.

My buddy is/was a LEO who was shot on duty a while back, his now at a "resort" seeking theropy and loves this lill knife.

I paid him a visit yesterday, he gave me the blade and showed me whats happening, his definately not making it blunt on purpose, it loses its edge in no time.

All he uses it for is to cut biltong (beef-jerky).

The metal is actually "flaking" away when he uses it on this, and causes the blade to become rounded.

this cant be normal can it?

I dont know if I should return it to my supplier and ask for a swopout or not.

If Sal or 1 of you guys that are know alot could give me advice Id appreciate it.

Many thanx

MaNcEr

P.S is there a reason that the forum software doesnt email me anymore when some1 replies?

Everything I've heard about the Ladybug is that it is a "real" knife, just a very small one. While jerky can be tougher than paper, it still isn't something that should cause a blade to disintegrate.

For sure, I'd return it to your dealer if possible, and if not, return it to Spdyerco in Golden. I think they would like to see a knife with this problem.

My $.02 worth.

I've used my Ladybug for cutting rope, sharpening pencils, opening boxes and other assorted things. Never even a hint of a problem.
I would get your dealer to replace it.

Gr8, thanx guys I will do, To make it even stranger he told me the jerky he was cutting wasnt fully dried, so it was still a tad "moist", I wouldnt mind sending it to Golden but the postage to get it up there safely would be a prob.
If Sal wanted to check it out Id be willing to though, Ive looked at it compared to my native and where the Native blade is "//" this is rounded almost like "/)} at the grinded edge at the bottom.

Its not as drastic as the pic Ive used using Ascii but you can see/feel its round.

Ill see what Sal wants, infact Ill e-mail the guys at Spyderco and ask what they'd like me to do.

Once again thanx guys

We'd be interested to get a looksee at the blade. But it is the only such experience that I've heard of so it probably wouldn't be worth the cost of analysis unless it happended again. We would certainly replace the knife for you, directly or through Ramrod.
