Hunting season is just around the corner and what better reason to get a new spyderco.

But which one.I am in chaos between the wegner, moran featherweight, droppoint or maybe the little mouse. It's going to be a hunting knife. The chinook performed excellently last year, but just like a bow you want a new knife every year, and the chinook is in the EDC/defense catagory so i want one of the other ones for skinning/hunting

Someday my friends,I'll own em all!!!

I have a Wegner, which is a beautiful knife.

However, If it's a hunting knife you want, get a hunting knife.

I admire your goal to get them all, but I believe that it's always best to have the right tool for the job at hand.

One way or the other, you pay for your tools!

The Wegner has primarily been advertised as a hunting knife. I believe that was a primary focus of its design. I don't think you could go wrong with it.

Despite the great popularity of Buck 110s and the Wegner, and other folding hunters, the potential problem of cleaning the knife is always there. Obviously, fixed blade knives are easier to clean. This advantage would presumable grow exponentially as the temperature drops. I've read of folks hard put to clean a folding hunter when it is really cold and lard has congealed down inside the knife.

Weight and convenience are also factors. Most FB hunters, with sheath are heavier, and more cumbersome than is a folder you can clip to your pocket.

If you're really an expert at field cleaning game, then I do think the Mouse would work fine for you. Designer Tim WEgner reportedly dressed out either a large elk or a moose with his mouse last year.

None of the choices are bad. Each has some disadvantages. Happy choosing!

i gave the wegner to a friend who is a hunting guide in mexico and aboustly swears by it he says the design is perfect. if i had the money i would get him the fixed blade one from tim himself at blade-tech. good luck.
