I was cutting boxes in the back and noticed an air vent in the 12' ceiling coming loose. Trying to fix it by pushing it back up IS NOT a good idea. The grate came crashing down and opened a nice gash, with the corner, on my left thumb. About 1/2"x1/4", and deep enough to see muscle tissue that it split.
Scared the hell out of a manager by how calm I was, and the Emergency ppl didn't think it bad because I WAS calm... until I showed it to them...
No stitches, but pressure tape things on it, holding the flesh together... I did a good enough job of fixing it up before I went in, thanks to my Emergency Firstaid training, specialized in: Cuts, Burns, Impalments.
It was all lined up for them...
So thanks to one hand open I can still use my knives, just not one on each side for at least a week or 2... damn...
We all start with 10 fingers. Those with Spydies have 9 to spare, Still need a thumb. Good thing I still have 8 to spare...
