Hey All, I had to take my son/Little Buddy back to his mom lastnight (Colorado Springs, Colorado) :( :( . He was down visiting for his Christmas Vacation. He just called me and informed me that he just "Blew Out" the pocket clip on his Native   . He got it hung up on a seatbelt, and when he got out, the way he described it broke some of the molding around the top of the clip (tiny square molding around the clip and screw/anchor bolt). I guess it bent the clip too. I told him not to worry to much about it. It could be replaced or repaired. He felt pretty bad about the incident though, since it was his 1st :spyder: . I will be getting him another :spyder: and a Survival Knife (Brand Unknown Yet) for his B-Day (another suprise for him). I could say this without him finding out. Unfortunately he doesn't have the internet just yet. But, He wanted everyone to know how "Thankful" he was for the warm welcome he received from everyone here. Now he is doing some major research on "Survival Knives". He wanted me to monitor any posts for him and relay all messages. He will be back for Spring Break.

Words from "sonOraven"; "I'll Miss My Spyderco Family, Especially Since I was Just Getting to Know Them". "Please Tell Everyone Thank You For All Of The Info, and I'll Be Back" "Take Care All".

I already miss him :( . He was my constant companion and encouragement.

On behalf of sonOraven, THANK YOU ALL. From me, Thank You for Welcoming Him. It means a lot to me and him. This "Family" is one he will always look forward to visiting. ;)

God Bless All :)

My Dear Raven,

It was our pleasure to have him; I hope how soon he returns.

As though my opinion matters on this subject, if his conduct here on the forums is any indication I will say that in my personal estimation someone is doing an excellent job raising him.

BTW - consider a Paramillie for him as a survival knife. Trust me: he will thank you in time. Just a suggestion... :D

The next time you speak to him, please tell him Dr. Lecter sends his warmest regards and will see him when he gets back. :p

Tell him I enjoyed the company Raven, and not to worry about that clip, quick and easy fix. I'll be looking forward to getting to know him better on spring break, it will be here before we know it :).

Take Care Erik, and God Bless!

I killed the clip on my endura WAY back at work... twisted it out of the clip well. Kept catching on the tables at work as I ran past em, quite often I'd find it on the way back(all of a minute later). Bend and twisted enough times that it finally died after twisting about 45deg around and bending out in one fell swoop. No hope of left hand clipping after that.

Got Vadim(vessleatherworks) to make me a leather sheath for it, works better than clipping it. Have a belt sheath for my frn endura(tip down, left side, forward cant) and a boot sheath for my ss police(tip down, inside boot, outer right ankle, hole and pivot are above my boot top for draw) that both get heavily abused. Well worth the money for one.

Also, Eric Noeldechen(On/Scene Tactical) does wonders with kydex if you can catch him on a "slow" period(he's always running crazy with orders, but you can usually be fit in for a single peice). My 24/7 carry, ss 'fly in kydex on my neck, is his work. tip down, set up for right hand draw(clip towards shirt), and enough retention that I can bike or jog with it.

I was really happy to meet him!! He is a GREAT kid!! Please send my best regards from TheKnifeCollector!! He was an absolute joy to have here!! I look forward to his return. That is a bummer about his Native, but it can be fixed. Just send it back to Spyderco, and all will be well.

Hey Raven, you got a great son. I'll miss him already on this forum.

I too know what it is to have to bring one's son back to his mom. I've been doing this for 5 and a half years now and you never get used to it.

Give your son my warmest regards and tell him I look forward to see him next spring.

Raven, your son's a great kid, you should be (and I'm sure you are) very proud of him.
I hope the survival knife search turns out well for you. God bless.

Like was mentioned earlier, he'll blow more pocket clips for sure! :D

The divine goddesses of the arachnid altar will take care of that though! :D (sorry 'bout that one, been watching too much 'Frasier' lately). :D

Survival knife? Get him an Internet subscription, I couldn't survive without it! ;)

Seriously, I looked into this myself recently and I would go for one of the Fallkniven offerings. Ted has some great first-hand experiences with the brand. And...Fallkniven offers both 'big' and 'small' survival knives, but all felt very strong and functional. I chose for a Spydersaw couple with a Manix in the end, but that's a different story.

Raven,
I think it's great that you can share a hobby together. I look forward to that with my little guy, when he gets a few years older! I trust one day the young ones appreciate that time they spent with dad. :o

Enjoy the time you get to spend together.

Aloha raven,

Wish I could have been here more during his stay, but...

well, the main thing is he had time with you, and that he is now a :spyder: addict! ;) I for one will miss him, and tell him no worries...we'll all be here when Spring Break comes around!

BTW, tell him that he can email me to tell me he just got a lower number on his plate than you! :p Just kidding ;)

God bless you both

its always a great thing when a father and son can share a hobby, so i think it is more along the lines of thank you for letting us be a part of that. As far as the Native is concerned this may just be his clever way of getting a second one (J/K), but really like you said it can be repaired or replaced and it only teaches us to be more carefull when we make a mistake. Thanks for sharing the story and let us know how the survival knife search is going. Take care my friend.

Hi Raven.
It was enjoyable to meet your son at the Forum and we are waiting him to come back and share his experience with :spyder: knives. Let him know that he'll always be most welcome here.
Better get him the survival knife now, or, by the time his knowledge regarding knives will increase enough, he's gonna ask for a CRK or something ;)
