I had a friendly visit from the postman yesterday - he had a couple of packages for me! The Remote Release. I carried it the rest of the day, and have it today as well. Hard getting used to it hanging instead of being clipped, but it's handy in it's own way.

Customs did their thing, and apparently were satisfied enough to allow a citizen to own such a toy...

I mentioned the top of the blade in another post - here's a look at it.

And a picture to compare it's size with a couple of other knives, an old Delica and a D'Allara Rescue.

Here's the last picture, with the Inova XO I got as well. If anyone is interested I could give my two cents on the XO in another post.

:o Thanks for sharing the pics with us deeker! That is an interested looking swedge on the top of the blade, I've never seen something like that before. I always got the impression that the knife was smaller that the Delica, it's bigger than what I thought.

Wow, your pics really show off how big the hole is on the remote release. And an interesting swedge design. The remote release just jumped a couple of notches higher on the wishlist. :D

Hey, man…congratulations on the new blade, and thank-you for the detailed photos.

I have an original remote release, and it very definitely CAN be flicked open. (Funny thing, though: I never open it that way…only tried it out 1ce to see if it could be done)

I’ve been wanting to get the new 1 as well…so is it “flickable”?

Or is this another incidence of fortunate inconsistency from the Gestapo?

Or do you have “The O.K”. to own your Spydercos because of your Search And Rescue work? :)

Let me know?

my thanx…d

I can't get enough of the Remote Release. I would qualify it as the hardest working knife Spyderco has ever made. Yes, i said it. I think it's value lay in situations where you know its needed often, and there is no need to hide it in your pocket. like at work.
Sad, I was the day it was discontinued. I have been through 3 of them through the years, and hope that i unwillingly made some Phillipino soldier's day when he found my second one in the grass at Clark AFB.

i would sell shoelaces if i needed to, in the event of a limited edition Red Remote Release 2.

Hear that Sal? RED REMOTE RELEASE 2, my shoelaces could be yours!!!
