Hello All,
My two Robins (PE & SE) arrived today along with two Finches and a Firebird. Folks, I think the Robin is the best of the Byrds yet. The size is both useful and appropriate for EDC in the office. Lockup is like a bank vault. As you might guess, of my 21 Byrds, I like this best (until Sal & Co come along with another winner, which they will!!!!).
Sal & Eric, you guys have done a great design job on this one. Thanks. For those that haven't ordered this one yet, I suggest you get going.
Sal - will the Robin be done in FRN/
Thanks - Joe

I'll second the excitement for the FRN byrd, and hope the FRN Crossbill sees production.

I know this is reviving an old thread, but hey, I just discovered the Robin:
I haven't ordered one yet, but I was looking for me use reviews. It seems about the same size as the Navigator, what do Robin owners think of their Byrds?

Two words on the Robin. BUY IT! It is a fine knife. Excellent F&F and made for hard use.

While I don’t personally own the Robin, I did procure one for a friend just recently and will say that it is a dandy little knife. The ergos were excellent, and for me it brought to mind the thought of a smaller Meadowlark. Looking at the online catalog, it shows the Robin being slightly smaller than the Navigator II. It’s also got a hollow grind in contrast to the saber grind of the Navigator II. The friend I got it for seems to like it well. He said he was going to take the clip off and carry it inside his pocket, but I notice that he carries it clipped.
A nice thing they did with the Robin that was missing on the previous byrds is the jimping on the 50/50 choil. It also didn’t take as much to break in as some of the others. I’d definitely recommend it, however I think that once the Lava comes out, most knives in that size range will loose their appeal.

Don't have a robin but have a crossbill and a caracara. Both are big knives and probably the best value I can find for a hard use knife. I will probably buy more Byrd knives. Please do some with frn handles or even something slightly nicer. Since I started carrying mine two weeks ago I have had several people ask where to purchase them, these are the same folks who gulp hard when they here the price of a "good" knife like a spydie. Great job on the Byrd line .

I received a Robin the other day and I must agree with the other posters in this thread. It is very well designed and quite possibly my favorite byrd! Pick this one up if you havn't done so already. At the price point there is little reason not to!

How is Finch doing? Are they heavy? Did you try to use them? Is the ergo good?
I really would like to know how it perform comparing to Jester or Ladybug. The steel should be better, not sure on the edge holding of this small knife.

100% agreed GR. :D :D :D I can't wait for the Lava!!!
I WAS going to try and get a Nav2, but the Robin looks like it will hold me over until the Lava comes out. I hate to spend $$$ on a knife (Nav2) that, while good, will really just end up in a drawer once the Lava comes out. :D At least with the Robin, if I decide NOT to keep it after the Lava, I won't feel bad giving it away, and if I do keep it, I won't feel like I've got $50 of steel unused in my sock drawer. :D
On a bizarre note, I've noticed that five out of the six knives I plan on buying this year are SS (or, the Lum Chinese, which is aluminum I think). I used to only like FRN...

my PE robin arrived friday, i'm very pleased! i SO can't wait for the G10 Meadowlark and Cara Cara to come out.
the robin is perfect for casual office carry. just the right size in my opinion. i was lusting after a Kopa, and eyeing the Navigator, but free funds just aren't floating around right now. i figured i could 'settle' for the byrd, but now that i have it i dont' think i really settled at all.
i'd highly recommend the robin to all!

The Robin is a great little knife, espicially for the price point.

Is there something different about the 440C Crossbill compared to the 8cro13Mov? My Crossbill says 8cro13Mov whereas my Cara Cara says 440C. Is one kind rarer than another?
