I watched a WTC D'Allara go for $516.00 this week, I was surprised because I've seen it offered for retail at $500.00. Made me wonder what's the highest $$ ever paid on eBay for a :spyder: ? and what was the model?
Happy New Year to all as it's been a couple of weeks since I've posted.

I believe the eBay record for a single :spyder: where the deal was completed was somewhere around $750 for a 25th Anniversary Delica. Several other specimens of it sold for between $500 and $700 during that same period.
For the record, while the WTC knife was never discounted, MSRP on it was $225.

Let's not forget the signed Gunting that went for I think $791... That was the highest auction I have seen.

Good question, but I can't answer that.. Never actually read the auction just watched the price. I've never owned a Gunting and everytime I had one in my grasp, something happened..

Was it that high ROCK? I thought that one Gunting was around $778 if my memory serves me well. But I do remember that Gunting you are talking about was about 2 1/2 to 3 months ago. I do remember the bid war the ensued over that one. The funny thing about that was in that same week there was an orange Gunting from Germany ( which I thought was much more rare  ) that went for around $450 or so.
I've seen 2 of those WTC Spydercos have the bidding start at $500. I think the funniest one I can remember was that one pink Delica that went for about $250 back in October. My friend Janis bid on that one up to $235 and lost :D

I'm pretty sure it was $791, but I could be mistaken. Either way, it was only a couple bucks short of $800. I'm sure when Scott gets here, he will tell us price, shipping cost and detailed info on the Gunting. :D

Now Rock you do remember that Orange Gunting that went that same week don't you. Because I was really amazed that particular one didn't get a lot more $$ than what it did. I have seen Ti Herbsts, Dino Bone, One of kind Q models, Cranberry Chinese Lum, Ti Police and a couple of others go up to the $350 to $500 range. But as far as I can remember that Gunting that ROCK mentioned is the biggest price factory Spyder I can personally remember. :spyder:

I remember the Orange Gunting as well... The other auction that comes to mind is a PE CF Civilian which went for $563, I believe. Shortly after that I started seeing PE CF Civilians every couple weeks.

I think that $500+ Civi went before the Gunting did. I am pretty sure of that. And I do remember the other Civilians that followed. It's really funny too because after that one went for $500+ I don't recall another one going for over $210 during that time period. These Spyders have just been all over the place.
What blows me away is how rare some of these Spyders are that don't hardly get anything on ebay. The Stainless handled Rescues for instance are some of the hardest to find Spyders out there but when one usually does come along I don't even see them crack over $100. Don't try to make sense out of it>> if you do you will end up taking tranquilizers :o

well tell your friend that another one made it onto ebay clicky (http://cgi.ebay.com/SPYDERCO-PINK-DELICA-RARE-WITH-ORIGINAL-BOX-L-K_W0QQitemZ6598058105QQcategoryZ63800QQssPageNameZ WDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) enjoy bidding. personally i can't handle the pnik and would rather wait for the blue with the zdp coming out. first time poster . been lurking for a few weeks. started buying up sppydies about 3 months ago. i had my first one (an endura) for about five yrs. since then a have gotten a new endura ss CE, rainbowfly(thinking of trading) caly jr burgandy(like new), a kopa evrina, a ss delica PE with spider web and spider etched on it, a new mille CF for work(damn its big..lol) a lil blue ladybug, and last but not least a crossbill CE (i wanted to try out a hawbill knife and it was a bargin at $18) oh and spyderco sharpening system and some compound to strop the plain edges. buying these are becoming so freaking addicting. :D

I have been well aware of the Pink Delica that is on ebay at this time. I am certain it will break $200 as well. Some of these prices not only baseless but really borderline on being totally insane  . The person that got the PE CF Civilian for $560 + and the person that got that Gunting for $700+ will not get any return on their investment anytime in the near future. These bid war aberations I have noticed for the most part are Ebay newbies that get caught up in emotional frenzies that go beyond any semblance of reason. It's great for the sellers I guess if they indeed do get payment. However I seem to remember a Massad Ayoob that went for $307 and I heard that the seller never got paid for that one. I am sure that there are more like that one too. Ebay is the best of the best and the worst of the worst.

dang, didnt know that the pink handles made it worth so much more...
I was at a gunshop the otherday and they had a couple of spydercos, a pink handled delica and a stainless endura...he didnt wanna seperate em so I had to buy the pink one with the endura...hell I was gonna give it away(ugly thing)
guess I should put it up on ebay.

Rock, if it's the one I'm thinking of, that was a set of two knives. Live blade and Drone, that were signed. I could be mistaken though.

Scott I do remember the one you are describing with the Gunting & Trainer but this one for $600+ was a separate knife. The reason I am certain of that is because when the auction ended I checked it out from total disbelief. It was about 3 weeks or a month after that one plain edged, Carbon Fiber Civilian fetched $563. There seems like there was a string of them at that time in the fall. I also remember one of those Evolution Delica sets that went for over $400 back in the summer. :spyder:

The highest I've seen was on a 25th Anniversary Delica, it was mid 700's IIRC.
