Hi all:

I just picked up a full sized Persian on e-Bay for $63. This may be the best deal on a knife ever. I got the knife today and it is a beautiful and well built knife---even by the high standards of Spyderco. This is truly an exceptional folder. I have a hard time getting why it was discontinued now that I have one. It is VG10 as if y'all did not know and the blade grind is a thing to behold. The deep choiled handle sits in the hand stunningly well. The knife also does not feel especially heavy, which is a surprise because I have seen weight listings that are pretty high. Micarta handles can run a range of textures depending on how they are laid up and the micarta on the Persian has just enough texture. This is a remarkable knife---could it return? I have read that the Persian is a "refined Chinook." Now I am thinking I may need one of those too.

Congrats and welcome Qboy,

GREAT score on that Persian!

The Persian is indeed one of the more "close to custom" production pieces out, and I am sure the same can be said for Ed's Kris and Mini Persian. The Persian IMHO, is one of the most versatile folders I have ever handled to date, and I have handled/owned a LOT! The way Ed designed the handle to fit pretty much ANY hand in pretty much ALL grips, is NO easy feat...especially with all the curves on the Persian. Incredible. ;)

I hope to see the Persian make a come back...but with textured G10, and holes for southpaws would be a nice feature that I do not think would detract from the overall "elegance" of it. Until then though, we can just dream and admire The Deacon's and smcfalls13's "Pimped" out Persians! ;)

God bless and great choice!

The Persian is one heck of a great knife, and for the price you got it, that's a great deal, especially with the full size being discontinued. $63 is amazing  It really is comfortable in all grips. It may not be readily left handed, but I'll live with it, I can always have holes drilled. Why ruin it for the majority of right handers by ruining it's aesthetic appeal.

Great knife you picked up. As for if it will return? I can only hope for a Sprint run sometime in the future. There's a smaller version in production now, if you're interested.

Chad, there will be a G-10 version, as soon as I get some money together, but I think already told you about that ;)

What a steal. Great knife, I'll bang the drum all day long about the Persian. And the little one too (75mm).
