I have a Delica that I bought quite a few years ago and G-2 is marked on the blade, I've been looking for a backup for this model, but haven't been able to find it. Does spyderco still make this model, it has the standard black handle, and I would like the same thing since it has taken quite a bit of use.
I've seen the Delica II's but they don't appeal to me that much.

Yep, they do! It's the best bang-for-the-buck knife going.
The handle is still black zytel, but the handle shape has been improved since your old G-2 model came out. The plastic clips had problems with stretching out and breaking off, so Spyderco replaced them with metal clips that can be switched from righty to lefty carry, another improvement. The grind has changed from hollow ground to flat ground, the steel has changed to ATS-55.
Sometime soon, the blade may change to VG-10, which will make the delica absolutely awesome.
Head to any knife site, like www.knifecenter.com, and search the spyderco links for delica, you'll see it.

Joe,
What a great, comprehensive answer. I am glad that I have procrastinated about buying a Delica for this long, as I will happily wait longer for VG-10.

I have also waited a long time before buying a delica. It took me quite some time to start carrying a 'plastic' (FRN) knife. Now my FRN Calypso Jr. is almost my favorite. I really like FRN. It's tough, you can carry it forever and it still looks great. Can't beat it (well, except maybe with G-10)
Now I can't decide whether to get a blue delica now, or wait and get one in VG-10 (black i guess)

If you've got the self-restraint, VG-10 is usually worth the wait. I plan to get yet another delica or endura, as soon as they come out in VG-10.

I have 4 spydies, my Delica being the oldest at 2 yrs.
I plan to upgrade and use the ATS-55 for kitchen/cooking duties. Been doing that for about a yr now, and no rust or stains yet.
Now wouldn't VG-10 and G-10 make the perfect Delica?
We all start with 10 fingers. Those with Spydies have 9 to spare, Still need a thumb. Good thing I still have 8 to spare...
