Cobra hood

This topic was discussed in BladeForums, but I'm still hazy. First off, what is this Cobra Hood? Secondly, what knives will have it? Last question, I promise<img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>: are there any pics?

I think your refering to the little loab that one would use instead of a spyder hole to open a knife. Spydies don't have em... except for that one on special right now if I remember correctily.

In case you're not familiar with them, a loab isvery similar, but not quite identical to an afor.

The &quot;cobra hood&quot; is a ridge of metal running around the top of the opening hole on either side of the blade's spine. It combines the advantages of the hole with those of the disc. I believe the Salsa and ATR will both have cobra hoods. I have pictures of both knives but they were taken by the Knifecenter without Sal's permission so I won't post them here without his OK.

Here they are then. These are pictures of the ATR and Salsa taken at the Shot Show this year. The &quot;cobra hood&quot; can be seen on each blade.

Thanks again for the pics, Clay. I vaguely remember some talk about the Salsa, but don't recall any about the ATR. It looks like quite a knife to me.

Is there another thread that gives specs on it? Curious to know size, type lock etc. Will run search after posting this.
