I purchased a light box kit today at Wolf and....

thought I would post a few practice shots. Balancing the light for different composures takes some patience. Its been fun tho. I am using a Sony DSC-P200 point & shoot but, now wish I had a DSLR to gain more versatility and control.

These are a couple of nice shots! Your lightbox seems to work just fine when it comes to lighting the scene out evenly - which is a good thing in my opinion. Just a little suggestion - if you don't mind: Try to set up your lightsource in a way that creates a little bit of shadow on your target (i.e. putting the light not straight over the knives). You'll be amazed how much more depth the picture will get and with a little bit of experimenting it is possible that the picture is still evenly lit.

Sounds a little bit strange - I know. Especially when you consider that most people buy lighboxes to eliminate shadows :)

Picking up a bit of shadow is a good idea and, thanks for the advice. Here is a picture of the light box. The kit comes with a couple drapes which clip on inside the box when needed. I also put a wooden brief case inside. I will try this box with, and without lights tomorrow. They had larger sizes and, I probably should have gone with one as it would have been easier to position and mount a camera. Those reverse umbrella light fixtures looked good too but, were quite expensive.

Ahhh cool, thanks...might have to get me something like that. Do you have to buy special light bulbs or do common ones work?

The lamps are standard spiral fluorescent (26W). I would assume they are readily available at any building supply house. Here is the link to the description. You might want to think about building one. It doesn't look difficult. A simple frame of some type, a couple fluorescent lamps, a white sheet to cut up.

Nice pix. I'm just starting to play with some myself. I MUST p/u that light box. When folded it takes-up no space. I was messing around just yesterday - Camera on a tripod, knives on a piece of cloth, and a Home Depot Halogen work light hand held over the top - :eek: I'm lucky I didn't start a fire. I was thinking "there's got to be a better way!" In addition to knife pix I'd like to share with my :spyder: bro's & sis's - I've got a ton of fishing lures I'd like to put on ebay.

That is a cool light box/tent. I had come across some online instructions (http://www.pbase.com/wlhuber/light_box_light_tent) on how to DIY, so I gave it a try.
