Just wanted to get some feedback from some of you with experience. I was looking at a recent issue of BLADE mag tonight at work and noticed some adds for Blade Tech, and remembered that they had a newer version of the mouse that i liked and a few other designs as well. I know it is owned by Tim Wenger, and that he has severed his ties w/ spyderco, but other than that i dont know much. Whats your opinion about the company? Are they worth looking into for future purchases? Thanks in advance
J

I have their version of the Mouse, and am well pleased with it. In addition, I have several of their belt attachments (Tek-Loks came with a few of the knives I currently own), and the Tek-Lok attachments work great. Very high quality.

I have 2 BLADE-TECH knives. I am very pleased with both of them although I have been trying to trade one of them but I trade all the time anyway. I have a G-10 handled, S30V Mouse just like "jimd". I also went all out and got the Extreme Hunter with the Carbon Fiber handle and S30V blade coated. They are both super quality blades. I really have to take off my hat to Mr. Wegner. The Extreme Hunter that I have is very similar in design to the C-48 that Spyderco used to make. Unless someone on BF offers me a stellar trade I will probably end up keeping both of them. They get an A in my book Whereas the GREAT SPYDER FACTORY gets an A+

I don't have any Blade Tech knives, but I do like Tim's approach. I heard only good things about him and his company.

thanks for the feedback, i figured it would be a positive route to take as i remeber his designs here at spyderco were always quality. Thanks for the reinforcement. JD, Ill have to take a look at the Extreme Hunter, it sounds like a real fine piece.
Thanks again,
J

I know that I am very tempted to try one of the mouse knives. They look very nice.

I don't usually go after tiny knives; most of them just don't appeal to me. With that said, I love the Mouse. Get one, you won't be sorry!

I don't think you can go wrong dealing with Tim Wegner and Blade-Tech. Good man, good company.

dsvirsky,
I think my 1st purchase will end up being a Mouse Lite as i am always looking for small EDC knives. I also like the looks of the PE Wegner Professional Hunter Lite w/ Orange FRN scales. And of course there are several more expensive models i would like to get, but that is a while off yet. Thanks for the feedback.

if it's as good as the mouse from spyderco, and I'm pretty sure it is, make some stock...

I have two :spyder: "mice" and enjoy them very much. Has anyone out there compared the Blade-Tech "offset oblong" vs :spyder: round hole, in terms of certaintity, and ease of opening?

Just wondering as I too was considering the BT mouse as a low cost EDC / Money Clip

I have both versions of the Mouse. I have the Spyderco Mouse and the Blade Tech mouse. Now I must admit that my Spyderco Mouse is kind of like a "sacred cow" and I have never used it for anything nor am I likely to use it for any cutting chores.

This is one time that I have to be painfully honest. I actually like the G-10 handled Blade Tech mouse a bit better because mainly I am a G-10 aficionado. But as far as the holes go I can honestly say that I personally see no noteable difference at all.

I am really perplexed that Spyderco's edition of the elusive Classic didn't take off sales wise any better than it did. BEcause from what I have heard the Blade Tech version is selling quite well. I gotta feeling that this might be a case of "lack of exposure".
