Can you identify five areas in which Spyderco may want to improve upon?

This approach has probably been employed by the Japanese since the 1960s in improving the quality of their products. They probably had a better procedure for strategic thinking.

Thus, one can see that in the 21st century Japanese products are no pushovers.

I reckon, Spyderco probably would also want to improve their products as all successful companies are wont to do. In this case, Spyderco probably may not have cover all the areas, or may not even have thought of some areas.

Here's where we the Spyderco fans come in. What areas do you want to see Spyderco make some improvements.

The above is the Yang side of the issue.

The Ying side focuses on the five areas where Spyderco is doing well. Hence, its position with the leading pack way up in the front.

OK, my opinion.

Areas for improvement:

1. Better global outreach.

2. Competitive pricing. There's much to be said about this. Just when you think that's the bottom line, sooner or later, someone is going to come up with something cheaper and better. Believe it or not, it happens all the time.

3. Creativity. Blade designs of the future. The Round Hole is THE breakthrough but what is there for the future?

4. Overall packaging. Perhaps something could be done to push this aspect a notch or two in the right direction. Everybody thinks Spyderco knives are clip-its but some people believe if you come up with a fancy yet practical porch, it would be pretty cool.

5. In future, Spyderco may want to think of expanding the inventory with regard to blade related products, or items distantly related to knives. What do you think knife collectors or users have that go with blades?

The Merits:

1. Excellent customer service

2. Outstanding quality control

3. Superior materials

4. Functionality par excellence

5. No false advertising. What you see is what you get.

That's all I have to say. Now I have to get back to my desk work.
