I saw this auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=6613737927&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT) for a LAGUIOLE , and was wondering if it was the real deal? I figured I'd wait till it was over so as not to affect the bidding process in any way.

Yep, it was the real deal. My paltry attempt at a snipe did not even register. High bid had jumped from around $180 to far enough over $300 to shut me out between the time I keyed in my bid and the time I pulled the trigger.

It just didn't do it for me, plus I was a little leary of the authintisity(sp), as it was the first time i'd seen one.

WOW!!!

Them's real. Bought both a PE and an SE from Golden 2 years ago. Haven't seen any in a while. But then I haven't seen many Hummingbirds, Walker-Klotzlis, or Blanchard sets lately either. Guess I'll be calling my agent to up the coverage too.

Laguiole is the name of a french town where this knife design is born and where they made it in the first place. Nowadays it just the name of this design because they can be produced anywhere... The Ramco/Spyderco Laguiole was made in Japan for example. and that particular model is sought after by Spyderco fans only, other Laguioles in general are pretty common, except for higher end models of course.
